Wat is Battle of Talents?
Battle of Talents (BoT) - georganiseerd door Venture Spirit - is dé ondernemingsplanwedstrijd voor
studenten, waarbij teams uit Vlaamse hogescholen, universiteiten en business schools het in een
ondernemersspel ‘online’ tegen elkaar opnemen in de strijd om de titel van “grootste Vlaamse
ondernemerstalent” met – natuurlijk – een mooie bijhorende prijzenpot ter waarde van € 50 000. Zo is er
een Electrabel Energieprijs, een rechtstreeks ticket voor het Telenet Idealabs van € 25 000, en heel wat
tablets, iphones, krantenabonnementen….
Innovatie en ondernemerschap stimuleren, daar draait het allemaal om! Binnen BoT kunnen jonge
mensen namelijk hun briljante ideeën omzetten in succesvolle ondernemingen. Aanvullend zorgen onze
partners en sponsors BNP Paribas Fortis, Securex, Electrabel en Telenet met extra ‘offline’ begeleiding
(coaching, CEO Café’s, ondernemerschapsavonden,…) voor een optimale ondernemerschapsbeleving!
Het concept leverde in de vorige edities in totaal meer dan 3000 deelnemers op, die samen 500+ ideeën
omvormden tot enkele levensvatbare ondernemingsplannen én ondernemingen.

Hoe werkt Battle of Talents?
In de eerste fase (vanaf 22/09) registreren deelnemende studenten zich als ondernemer, talent of
investeerder.
De tweede fase (vanaf 15/10) wordt volledig online gespeeld. Hier werken ondernemers (studenten,
onderzoekers, PhD’s en MBA’s) hun ondernemingsplan uit en doorlopen ze verschillende rondes. Talenten
kunnen een ondernemer vervoegen, hun expertise inzetten en hun team helpen stuwen naar de top van
de competitie. Investeerders tenslotte, kopen virtuele aandelen in de ondernemingen en bepalen hierbij
de waarde van de verschillende ideeën. Door tenslotte feedback te leveren op de plannen, fungeren zij als
echte durfkapitalisten en strijden zij onderling voor de titel van “beste investeerder” en bijhorende
prijzen.
In de derde fase (25/02) pitchen de finalisten op een live event hun idee voor topmensen uit de
industriële, academische en politieke wereld en strijden ze voor de titel van “grootste Vlaamse
ondernemerstalent”.

What is Battle of Talents?
Battle of Talents (BoT) – Organised by Venture Spirit – is THE student business plan competition. Teams
from different Flemish universities, university colleges and business schools will compete each other for
the coveted tittle “Flanders’ most promising entrepreneur”. Of course there are great prizes to be earned,
such as the Electrabel Energy-prize; a direct ticket for the Telenet Idealabs valued at €25 000; and lots of
tablets, IPhones, newspaper subscriptions …
The goal of this competition is to stimulate innovation & entrepreneurship! Within Battle of Talents,
students get encouraged to turn their ideas into successful businesses. The online creation of the business
plans will be complemented with offline events (Coaching, CEO Café’s, Pitch training, etc…) hosted by our
partners and sponsors BNP Paribas Fortis, Securex, Electrabel and Telenet to ensure the optimal
entrepreneurship experience.
In previous editions, more than 3000 students participated. Together they have created over 500 ideas
and turned some of them into viable business plans & businesses. Join our Battle of Talents community as

students will be the best Entrepreneur or Investor this year?
How does Battle of Talents work?
During the first phase (starting 22/09), students are able to register taking one of the three possible roles:
Entrepreneur, Talent or Investor.
The second phase (starting 15/10) is played solely online. During this phase Entrepreneurs (Students,
researchers, PhD’s & MBA’s with an idea) work out their business plan and go through different capital
rounds to gather virtual investments. Talents can join an entrepreneurial team & use their expertise to
propel their team to the top. Last but not least, Investors buy virtual stocks of the different ventures to
determine the value of the ideas. But since they act as venture capitalists, they also send feedback to the
entrepreneurial teams to help them improve their business plan. Within BoT, Investors compete for the
title “Best Investor” and associated prizes.
The third phase will take place on 25/02. During this real-life event, the top entrepreneurial teams will get
a chance to pitch their idea to industry leaders, academics & influential politicians and compete for the
highly coveted title “Flanders’ Student Entrepreneur!”
