Micropia geopend!
Op dinsdag 30 september heeft koningin Máxima Micropia geopend. Micropia,
een tentoonstelling waar de onzichtbare wereld van micro-organismen
zichtbaar wordt gemaakt, is gevestigd in de gerenoveerde Ledenlokalen (1870)
aan het nieuwe Artisplein in Amsterdam. Kossmann.dejong is samen met het
Micropia projectteam, het Duitse mediadesignbureau ART+COM en een team van
experts, verantwoordelijk voor het concept en ontwerp van deze bijzondere
tentoonstelling.

Historie beleven in de Markthal
Een dag na de opening van Micropia heeft koningin Máxima ook de Markthal in
Rotterdam geopend. Kossmann.dejong heeft in de ondergrondse roltrappenvide
de tentoonstelling ‘De Tijdtrap’ ontworpen. Omgeven door abstracte grafische
prints van bodemlagen daalt de bezoeker af naar de parkeergarage. Daarbij
worden in museale vitrines de archeologische vondsten getoond die naar boven
kwamen tijdens de graafwerkzaamheden van de parkeerkelder. Een bijzondere
reis door de tijd.

‘GEISHA’ in Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde
Eerdere samenwerkingen van het Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde met Kossmann.dejong
hebben geleid tot internationaal prijswinnende tentoonstellingen zoals
‘Het Verhaal van de Totempaal’ en ‘Verlangen naar Mekka’. De succesvolle
samenwerking is nu voortgezet in de tentoonstelling ‘GEISHA’, waar bezoekers
kennismaken met dit meest controversiële fenomeen en stijlicoon van de
Japanse elitecultuur. ‘GEISHA’ is vanaf heden te bezoeken in Leiden.

Officieel moment in Taipei
Het definitieve ontwerp van Kossmann.dejong voor vier nieuwe musea in
het Taipei City Museum Park (Taiwan) is officieel goedgekeurd door de
burgemeester en het Culturele Departement van de stad Taipei. Na veel
lovende woorden nu op naar de volgende stap in de realisatie van het
centrale museum, een tunnel, het literatuurmuseum en het culinaire museum.

Wonderkamers finalist Cinekid Festival
Op het Cinekid Festival worden jaarlijks prijzen uitgereikt aan de beste
film-, tv- en nieuwe mediaproducties voor de jeugd. In een internationaal
speelveld van nieuwe games, creatieve apps en mixed media installaties, is
Wonderkamers geëindigd in de top 3 van Beste Nieuwe Media Productie.

Kossmann.dejong in de prijzen
Bij de International Design Awards (IDA) 2013, een prijs ter erkenning en
wereldwijde promotie van toonaangevend design, heeft Kossmann.dejong meerdere
prijzen ontvangen, waaronder twee gouden IDA Awards (cat. Interior Other) voor
‘De Dode Zeerollen’ en ‘Verlangen naar Mekka’. Het Nationaal Maritiem Museum
in Helinsgør ontving niet alleen een zilveren IDA Award, maar maakt ook kans op
een SBID International Design Award 2014 (cat. Public Space) én op een FX
International Interior Design Award (cat. Museum / Exhibition Space). De
winnaars van deze prestigieuze prijzen worden in november in Londen bekend
gemaakt.

En verder
Op 24 oktober verzorgt Herman Kossmann een lezing over ‘Making Narrative
Environments’ tijdens het congres Raumwelten 2014 in Ludwigsburg (DE).
Raumwelten is een internationaal platform voor scenografie, architectuur
en media.
Op dit moment wordt de laatste hand gelegd aan het nieuwe Nationaal Militair
Museum in Soesterberg. Sinds januari 2011 werkt Kossmann.dejong intensief
aan de museale inrichting van dit unieke project om de rijke historie van
de krijgsmacht op een spannende manier te vertellen. De officiële opening
vindt plaats op 11 december en vanaf 13 december zal het museum openen voor
publiek.
Het Nationaal Maritiem Museum in Denemarken heeft acht maanden na de
opening, veel eerder dan verwacht, de 100.000ste bezoeker mogen verwelkomen.
De tentoonstelling is een populaire bestemming voor schoolklassen en vormt
een belangrijke toevoeging aan de toeristische attracties in Helsingør.
De reizende tentoonstelling SUPERMODELS, een initiatief van Concern om
Nederlands design wereldwijd te promoten, is nu te zien op de Dutch Design
Week in Eindhoven in de kantoorruimte van Deerns. Als onderdeel van het
project heeft Kossmann.dejong een diorama ontworpen in het Dutch Design
(Doll) House. Eerder was SUPERMODELS al afgereisd naar Tbilisi (Georgië),
waar de tentoonstelling op de Nederlandse Ambassade een groot succes was.

Micropia open!
Queen Máxima has opened Micropia on Tuesday 30 September. Micropia is an
exhibition in which the invisible world of micro-organisms has been made
visible. It is located in the renovated Members’ Rooms (1870) along the new
Artis Square in Amsterdam. Together with the Micropia project team,
the German media design agency ART+COM Studios and a team of experts,
Kossmann.dejong was responsible for the concept and design of this
exceptional exhibition.

Experience history in the Markthal
A day following the opening of Micropia Queen Máxima also opened the
Markthal in Rotterdam. The exhibition ‘The Time Stairs’, located in the
escalator section, was designed by Kossmann.dejong. Surrounded by abstract
graphic prints of layers of soil, visitors descend into the parking garage.
Museum vitrines display archeological finds excavated during the digging out
of the parking garage, offering an interesting journey through time.

‘GEISHA’ in National Museum of Ethnology
Previous collaborations between the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden
(NL) and Kossmann.dejong have led to internationally acclaimed exhibitions,
including ‘The Story of the Totem Pole’ and ‘Longing for Mecca’. This
fruitful collaboration continues with the exhibition ‘GEISHA’, in which
visitors encounter this most controversial phenomenon and style icon of
Japanese elite culture. ‘GEISHA’ is now open to the public.

Official moment in Taipei
Kossmann.dejong’s final designs for four new museums in Taipei’s City Museum
Park (Taiwan) have been officially approved by the Mayor and the Cultural
Department of the City of Taipei. Following the many plaudits received we
are now working towards the next step in the realisation of the central
museum, a tunnel, the literature museum and the culinary museum.

Wonder Rooms finalist Cinekid Festival
During the annual Cinekid Festival prizes are awarded for the best film,
television and new media productions for children. From an international
cohort of new games, creative apps, and mixed media installation,
Wonder Rooms finished in the top 3 of Best New Media Productions.

Kossmann.dejong awarded
Kossmann.dejong has received several awards during the International Design
Awards (IDA) 2013, which aims to recognise, celebrate and promote legendary
design visionaries worldwide. They include two golden IDA Awards (Interior
Other category) for ‘The Dead Sea Scrolls’ and ‘Longing for Mecca’. The
National Maritime Museum in Helinsgør not only received a silver IDA Award,
but is also nominated for the SBID International Design Award 2014 (Public
Space category) and an FX International Interior Design Award (Museum /
Exhibition Space category). The winners of these prestigious awards will be
announced in London in November.

Herman Kossmann will deliver a lecture on ‘Making Narrative Environments’
during the Raumwelten 2014 conference in Ludwigsburg (Germany) on
24 October. Raumwelten is an international platform for scenography,
architecture and media.
The National Military Museum in Soesterberg is in the final phase of
realisation. Kossmann.dejong has worked hard on the development and
implementation of the display of this unique museum since January 2011,
attempting to convey the rich history of the army in an exciting way.
The official opening will take place on 11 December, and the museum will be
open to the public from 13 December.
Eight months after its opening, the National Maritime Museum in Denmark
has welcomed its 100,000th visitor, which was much earlier than expected.
The permanent display is a popular destination for school classes and forms
an important addition to the tourist attractions in Helsingør.
The touring exhibition ‘SUPERMODELS’, initiated by Concern to promote Dutch
design worldwide, can be seen during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven
in Deerns’ offices. As part of the project Kossmann.dejong has designed
a diorama for the Dutch Design (Doll) House. Previously ‘SUPERMODELS’
travelled to Tbilisi (Georgia), where the exhibition at the Dutch Embassy
was a success.
