A NEW HEADQUARTEr
the collection showroom
XVL a connu une forte expansion et est devenu un acteur important au niveau international.
Ce développement a initié une nouvelle stratégie commerciale: offrir à cette clientèle un lieu
assez vaste que pour pouvoir présenter toute la collection dans un cadre de travail accueillant
et une ambiance chaleureuse. XVL a décidé de regrouper toutes ses activités dans de nouveaux
locaux situés au nord de Bruxelles. La société y dispose, outre de vastes espaces de travail,
d’un grand showroom de 1.000m² réservé aux professionnels. Ce showroom ouvrira début
octobre et donnera aux équipes d’XVL et à leurs clients un superbe outil de travail.
XVL heeft een sterke uitbreiding gekend en is een belangrijke speler geworden op internationaal niveau. Deze ontwikkeling heeft een nieuwe commerciële strategie teweeg
gebracht: een voldoende grote ruimte aanbieden aan dat specifieke cliënteel om
de volledige collectie te kunnen presenteren in een aantrekkelijke professionele omgeving
met een warme sfeer. Zo heeft XVL besloten om al zijn activiteiten te groeperen in een
nieuw pand gelegen ten noorden van Brussel. Het bedrijf beschikt er, naast uitgebreide werkplaatsen, over een grote showroom van 1000m² gereserveerd voor het professioneel
cliënteel. Deze showroom zal begin oktober geopend worden en een prachtig werktuig zijn
voor het team van XVL en hun klanten.
XVL has undergone a big expansion and has become an important actor on international
level. This development initiated a new commercial strategy; to offer a vast environment
to its clientele, a welcoming & warm work habitat in which they can present the whole
collection. XVL decided to regroup all its activities on one « site » located north of Brussels.
The company will have, in addition to large workspaces, a large showroom of 1.000m² for
professionals. The showroom will open its doors beginning of October and will give the XVL
Team and its customers a magnificent working tool.

The desire to create a line of furniture which
corresponded to a certain expectation,
contemporary and warm, in pure lines and
beautiful materials, was the base of the
creation of XVL. 10 years represent
an important step. At this stage of development, the collection has extended and
diversified itself a lot. Today, the vision of the
collection has sharpened, XVL evolving along
with its customers. The new models, the
noble materials, the marble, the leathers,
the precious woods combine or blend with
raw materials such as steel and concrete.
The elegance of the models is highlighted
by these mixtures and allows the design to
evolve with great subtlety. The PEARL LABEL
collection characterizes this orientation.

Un lien particulier s’est créé avec Maison & Objet, XVL y occupe quelques 300m² et possède,
selon un avis unanimement partagé, l’un des plus beaux espaces du salon. L’un des plus
attendus aussi. Cette présence aux salons permet de nombreux contacts avec la clientèle
internationale. XVL présentera ses nouveautés dans des perspectives nouvelles,
de nouveaux coloris, quelques nouvelles combinaisons de matériaux et surtout, ce qui est
très nouveaux pour elle, une collection de luminaires .

samenwerking tussen u
en XVL vertellen ?
Hoe hebben jullie elkaar
ontmoet ?
Ik ken Xavier al enkele jaren. Het is bijvoorbeeld via beurzen zoals Maison & Objet dat
ik zijn opmerkelijke evolutie volgde. In 2012
besloten we de handen in elkaar te slaan.
Xavier wou met mijn bureau samenwerken en toen hij me met zijn legendarische
enthousiasme zijn filosofie en doelstellingen
uit de doeken deed, twijfelde ik geen seconde. Hij is heel ambitieus en heeft een mooie
langetermijnvisie. Ik werk ondertussen twee
jaar met zijn team samen en leerde enorm
veel bij over deze sector die aan architectuur verwant is.
Hoe voelt het om als
designer en architect
samen te werken met
een label als XVL ?
Je hoeft die twee aspecten niet van elkaar
te scheiden. Maar als architect en designer
is het belangrijk om met een open geest
te luisteren. In dit huis (en ik noem het
een huis omdat de sfeer hier geweldig en
broederlijk is) werken heel wat vakbekwame
en talentvolle mensen op heel verschillende
domeinen. Veel kennis wordt onder elkaar
uitgewisseld en dat is voor zo’n uitgebreide collectie die met verschillende nobele
materialen werkt, héél belangrijk. Als architect vind je bij XVL een efficiënte partner
en kan je putten uit de collectie om nieuwe
projecten te vervolledigen.

les débuts de votre
collaboration avec XVL ?
Je connais Xavier depuis de nombreuses
années. C’est ainsi que j’ai, au travers
entre autre du salon Maison & Objet,
vu l’évolution remarquable de sa société.
En 2012, lors d’une discussion, surgit l’idée
d’envisager une collaboration avec mon bureau.
Xavier m’a fait part, avec son enthousiasme
légendaire, de ses objectifs. Ceux-ci étant
ambitieux, avec une vraie vision sur le long
terme, j’ai immédiatement été convaincu.
Depuis maintenant deux ans je collabore
avec son équipe, en apportant mes
connaissances de la fabrication, liées à
celles de l’architecture.
En tant que designer et
architecte, que vous
apporte, une collaboration
avec un éditeur comme
XVL ?
Je ne crois pas qu’il faille séparer ces
deux aspects, mais en tout état de cause,
l’architecte- designer a besoin d’écoute et
d’ouverture d’esprit. Il y a au sein de cette
“Maison” (j’insiste sur le mot maison,
tellement l’ambiance y est agréable et
fraternelle), des collaborateurs compétents
et talentueux, dans toute une série de domaine. Les échanges de “savoir” y sont donc
constants, c’est primordial dans une collection aussi vaste et mélangeant tant de
matériaux nobles. L’architecte y trouve
aussi un partenaire efficace et peut puiser
dans la collection d’XVL le mobilier qui complétera élégamment son projet.
Comment voyez-vous
l’évolution de cette
collaboration ?
XVL est une société qui évolue continuellement. Ses nouveaux projets dont les
nouveaux bureaux et surtout l’ouverture de
ce grand showroom professionnel à Puurs
donneront un outil essentiel et créeront
un formidable appel vers la clientèle professionnelle. En corolaire, une demande
sans cesse renouvelée de nouveautés, de
nouveaux produits, de nouveaux matériaux.
Grâce aux salons Maison & Objet, XVL
jouit d’une ouverture sur le monde entier.
Tout cela est stimulant pour tout esprit
créatif, je me sens très impliqué dans la
poursuite de ce travail.
J’espère que cette
collaboration va durer
encore longtemps !

XVL evolueert voortdurend. De nieuwe
kantoren en showroom zijn bvb. een handige tool om de professionele klanten uit te
nodigen en aan te trekken. In het verlengde hiervan kunnen we blijven voldoen aan
de vraag om te vernieuwen, met nieuwe
materialen te werken en nieuwe producten te
creëren. Via Maison & Objet heeft XVL een
voet tussen de deur naar de hele wereld! Dit
alles werkt stimulerend voor een creatieve
geest en ik voel me heel betrokken bij het nastreven van dit doel. Ik hoop op nog een lange
samenwerking!

Could you tell us how
your collaboration with
XVL came about ?
I have known Xavier for a good many years.
That’s how I witnessed the remarkable
development of his company, in amongst
other things at the Maison & Objet salons.
In 2012, we were talking and the idea of
working with my agency just came up.
With his famous zeal and enthusiasm,
Xavier was telling me about his plans.
Now these plans were ambitious, displaying
a real long-term vision, so I was won over
right there and then. Since what has now
been two years, I’ve been working with his
team, bringing my understanding of fabrication and architecture to the table.
As a designer and an architect rolled into one, what
is in it for you, working
with a manufacturer such
as XVL ?
I don’t think you can separate the two
aspects, but in any event, an architectdesigner needs a ready ear and an open
mind. This ‘House’ (and I insist on using the
word house, because the atmosphere at
XVL is friendly and congenial) is home to
staff who are skilled and talented in a whole
host of areas. Which means you get a continuous exchange of know-how, which is paramount when you’re dealing with such a vast
collection that also mixes a wide variety of
noble materials. As an architect, I’m happy
to say that in XVL I’ve got an efficient partner
that allows me to tap into the XVL furniture
collection to help me bring that collection
to fruition.
How do you see this
collaboration develop in
the future ?
XVL is a business that is constantly evolving.
Its new projects, including the way new
agencies are called upon and especially the
opening of the big showroom in Puurs aimed
at the professional market will serve as an
essential tool and a very attractive key draw
for the professional clientele. As a result we
are seeing a constantly rising demand
for new designs, new products and new

salons, XVL has been given a gateway to the
world at large. All of which is quite stimulating for any creative spirit, and I’m greatly
involved in pursuing this effort.
I hope this collaboration is
set to continue for a long
time to come!

XVL s’est fait une spécialité du mobilier sur
mesure, non seulement la déclinaison de
ses modèles aux dimensions désirées par
les clients mais aussi toute la menuiserie
intérieure d’un bâtiment, bibliothèques,
mobilier encastré pour les cuisines, salles
de bains, lambris, portes, cloisons claustras.
Le bureau d’étude se compose de 6 architectes d’intérieurs qui travaillent en collaboration avec les bureaux d’architectures
et de décoration, elles mettent leur
compétence et leurs expériences personnelles au service des clients et peuvent
prendre en charge une partie ou la totalité
de la conception du mobilier sur mesure.
Les deux pôles d’activités, le mobilier de
la collection et le mobilier sur mesure
sont deux univers qui se complètent et
s’enrichissent mutuellement.
XVL heeft zich ontplooid als specialist
in maatwerkmeubilair, niet enkel door
bestaande modellen aan te passen naar
de wensen van de klant maar ook door
compleet maatwerk aan te bieden voor het
interieur van verschillende panden waaronder bibliotheken, maatwerk keukens,
badkamers, lambriseringen, deuren en
scheidingswanden. Het studiebureau
bestaat uit 6 interieurarchitecten die
samenwerken met verschillende architectenbureaus en decoratiebedrijven waarbij
ze hun vakkennis en persoonlijke ervaringen
ter beschikking van de klanten stellen.
Hierbij nemen zij een deel of het
volledige project in handen voor de
realisatie van een maatwerk project.
De vaste collectie en het maatwerk meubilair,
de 2 pijlers van XVL haar activiteiten,
zijn 2 verschillende werelden die zicht met
elkaar aanvullen en verrijken.
XVL specializes in custom made furniture, not only the declension of its models in
the dimensions desired by customers but also in all the interior woodwork of a building
such as libraries, built-in furniture for kitchens, bathrooms, paneling, doors,
partitions trellises. Our design studio consists of 6 interior designers working in
collaboration with architectural and decoration offices. Together they bring their expertise
and personal experiences to serve the customers and can take care of some or all of
the conception of the custom-made furniture. The two businesses: the furniture of the
collection and the bespoke furniture are two universes that complement and enrich
each other.

Driven by the quest for a sustainable collection,
Stéphane Lebrun designed a special series
of furniture pieces that stands out both in terms of
the production methods used
as well as in terms of their design.
This year sees him take on the design of
a collection of lighting fixtures with seemingly
unostentatious and straightforward vibes.

une collection plus pointue et moins consensuelle
que la collection XVL, répondant à l’évolution d’une
partie de la clientèle. C’est à l’occasion de cette collection que Stéphane Lebrun a proposé ses
premiers modèles, la table OPERA, l’armoire FIGARO,
le siège MAXIME et la petite table COBRA. PEARL
LABEL s’enrichit aujourd’hui d’une collection de
luminaires . XVL a voulu commencer par la déclinaison en 4 formules (sur pied, de table, en suspension
et en applique) d’une forme très simple, très pure qui
s’harmonise avec la collection de mobilier.

scherpere en meer specifieke collectie voor te
stellen dan de vaste XVL collectie, mee evoluerend
met een gedeelte van het cliënteel. Bij de gelegenheid van deze collectie heeft Stéphane Lebrun
zijn eerste modellen kunnen voorstellen, de tafel
OPERA, kast FIGARO, zetel MAXIM en het bijzettafeltje
COBRA. PEARL LABEL verrijkt zich momenteel
met een collectie verlichtingsarmaturen. XVL heeft
hierbij willen starten met een gelijkvormige serie
van 4 armaturen (met voet, op tafel, hangend en
wandmodel) in een eenvoudige en pure vorm die
harmonieus samen gaat met de collectie meubelen.
PEARL LABEL corresponds to a desire to offer a
sharper and less consensual collection than the XVL
collection, responding to the evolution of a part of
the clientele. It’s on this occasion that Stéphane
Lebrun proposed his first models, the OPERA table,
FIGARO cabinet, the MAXIM seat and small COBRA table.
Today Pearl Label welcomes a collection of lamps.
XVL wanted to start with the variation in four models
(standing, table, suspension and wall) of a very pure
simple form, which harmonizes with the furniture
collection.
