THE Postharvest Network organises practical solutions to improve the postharvest supply chain. It is a collaboration of companies, research institutions and government in the Netherlands. LOCAL SOLUTIONS SUPPORTED BY DUTCH EXPERTISE Do you know that in some food and flower supply chains almost 50% of the harvest is lost before it reaches the consumer? Applying already proven technology and expertise can substantially reduce this loss! Dutch small and medium sized enterprises (SME’s) and multinationals are working in food supply chains all over the world. They know how to implement proven solutions that reduce postharvest losses, they cooperate in a Postharvest Network with Dutch universities (like Wageningen UR) while Dutch government is active in supporting the network by its Embassies all over the world. >> Supply chain Postharvest food losses occur mostly in the supply chain. Meaning that while several companies are working together to transport, store and process the harvest, or even if the whole supply chain is taken care of by one company, somewhere in the supply chain losses occur. First thing is to analyse the underlying causes. Because several links in the supply chain are involved, it will not be an easy job to do. The Postharvest Network offers assistance to find possible solutions and partners to address the causes and improve the value of the food chain. Our offer The Postharvest Network is a community of Dutch companies, universities and governmental organizations that work together to reduce postharvest losses in developing and emerging countries. When a company or government seeks professional assistance on reducing postharvest losses, the Postharvest Network is the obvious partner.
