It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Second
International Symposium on Instructional Systems
in Healthcare, to be held at the University of Hawaii,
Simtiki simulation Center.
この度，標記シンポジウムが2008年6月18日（水）～
20日（金）の3日間，ハワイ州オアフ島のハワイ大学
SimTikiシミュレーションセンターで開催されることにな
りました．
The symposium is organized to establish a new
medical safety culture by simulation-based medical
education under the theme of “Standardizing the
Simulation-based Medical Education and Training
the Instructors”. It will enable medical professionals
and all the participants who have convened together
from U.S. and Japan to present their daily efforts and
share ideas by lively exchange of opinions. It is our
goal to hold the symposium every year alternately in
Japan and the United States, and to collaborate in
developing and making aware of the “Medical
instructional System and Program” by applying the
most up-to-date technologies of Asia and USA.
このシンポジウムは，シミュレーション医学教育で新
しい医療安全文化を築くことを目標に，「シミュレーショ
ン医学教育の標準化とインストラクターの養成」をテー
マとして，日米の医療関係者，参加者が一堂に会して
研究成果を発表し，討議し，そしてその情報を共有す
る医学シンポジウムです．今回の開催を機に，今後，
日米両国で，毎年交互に開催し，相互に交流を深め，
アジアと，米国の最新テクノロジーを応用した「医学教
育システム及びプログラム」の開発とその普及を協働
で行うことを目的としています．
Needless to say, developing and enlightening the
aforesaid “High-Technology Simulation-based
Medical Education” which is incorporated as an
“Instructional System and Program” to improve
medical professionals task conducting competency
and to recent problems in the medical education and
practice, will certainly raise the quality of healthcare
and welfare nationwide.
I should like to ask for your health cooperation and
support in making this Japan-US Joint Symposium a
significant experience for all concerned.
今日の医学教育・医療の問題点を解決する一つの方
法として，医療従事者のタスク遂行能力を向上させ，社
会に信頼される安全・確実な医療者を養成するための
「教育システム・プログラム」として，この「ハイテク・シミ
ュレーション医学教育」を開発し，普及，啓発することは
，広く国民の医療，福祉の質の向上に繋がることにも
言を待ちません．
何卒，係る経緯をご理解賜り，この日米シンポジウム
の開催に際して，格別なるご協力と，ご配慮を賜りたく
，ここにお願い申し上げる次第であります．

I would like to extend my cordial welcome to the
Second International Symposium on Instructional
Systems in Healthcare.
In order to establish a new medical culture by
simulation-based medical education, the first
symposium mainly focuses on “Acute Medicine” under
the theme of “Standardizing the Simulation-based
Medical Education” and “Training the Instructors”.
Taking this as a first step, we plan to hold the
symposium every year alternately in Japan and United
States, and to collaborate in developing and making
aware of the “Medical Instruction System and
Program”.
I would like to ask for your active participation and
cooperation to make this Japan-Us Joint Symposium a
great success.
この度，標記シンポジウムが開催されるに際して，一言，ご挨拶を申
し上げます．
本シンポジウムはシミュレーション医学教育という手法による新しい
医療安全文化を築くことを目標に，その標準化とインストラクターの養
成をテーマとして，開催されますが，第1回目の今回は，特に「救命救
急医療」領域を中心とした，日米の医療関係者，参加者が一堂に会し
て，1年毎に開催されることとなりました．
今回の開催を機に，今後，日米両国でこのシンポジウムを相互開催
し，「シミュレーション医学教育」のシステムとプログラムの開発を協働
で行うことを計画しています．
今日の医学教育・医療の問題点を解決するひとつの方法として，医
療従事者のタスク遂行能力を向上させ，社会に信頼される安全・確実
な医療者を養成するための「教育システム・プログラム」のひとつとし
て，この「シミュレーション医学/医療教育」を開発・普及することは，意
義のあることであり，ここに本シンポジウムの成功に向けて，皆様の
今後の更なる積極的なご協力をお願い申し上げる次第でございます

Though the whole world anticipates that medical professionals bear
the ethical and social responsibility to provide high-quality and safe
medical practice/service, “a living creature who ought to err” often
cause medical accidents in a rapidly changing society with highly
complicated and advanced medical technology. While medical safety
tools such as a clinical pathway and electric medical records are
rushed to develop, we have not yet established a training system
which aims to improve the competency for conducting medical task
of those who are in the medical accident “hot zone”.
Under the present circumstances, people began to shed light on the
simulation-based education to enhance the professional competence
of medical staff. Nevertheless, no such programs or courses, based on
the concepts with the simulation-based medical education and the
system plan, have been incorporated.
The purpose of this second symposium is to present the concept and
academic background of the simulation-based medical
education/learning.
The symposium offers you the best opportunity for such an
experience. As we share the experience and collaborate with
teachers/instructors of medical schools who are in charge of
improving health/medical staff competency and with managers/staff
at the simulation centers and laboratories, let us take a step forward
to develop and enlighten the simulation-based medical education
system, which will lead us to train medical professional to acquire
complicated yet safe medical skills.
良質で安全な医療サービスを提供することは国家資格を有する
医療者の倫理的かつ社会的な責任ですが，現実には医療の複
雑化・高度化・「間違える生き物である人」の介在などに起因す
る医療事故が絶えません．医療安全の管理ツール（クリニカル
パス，電子カルテなど）が開発される一方，医療事故のホットゾ
ーンにいる医療者の職能を改善する研修訓練の開発・普及は
進んでいません．
医療者のタスク遂行能力を向上する方策として，シミュレータ
ーを用いた教育への期待が高まっていますが，シミュレーション
による医療教育のコンセプト，システム設計やコンセプトに基づ
いたコース策定はいまだ始まっていないのが現状です．
今回開催する第2回医療教授システム国際シンポジウムの目
的は，シミュレーション教育に必要なインストラクターを養成する
ことにあります．医学部などの医療系教育機関や，臨床研修病
院などで研修・看護師・救命救急士などの業務遂行能力を向上
する役割を担われている教員・指導者・あるいはシミュレーショ
ンセンター・ラボの責任者・スタッフの方々と体験を共有し，良質
で安全な医療者を養成するシステムの開発・普及を推進したい
と考えています．
