Contents 1. System Overview 2. System Development and Benefits 3. Future Undertakings 1. System Overview Issues of Decentralized Power Plant Operators PCS Manufacturer A Plant Decentralized Power Plant Operator (Plant Manager) PCS Manufacturer B Plant PCS Manufacturer C Plant PCS (Power Conditioning System) <Issues> (1) Data on photovoltaic power generation facilities is managed individually by each plant. (2) Events such as alarms require personnel to visit the sites concerned to perform checks. (3) The collection of information on power generation from each plant is time consuming. 1. System Overview System Overview Nishimu Data Center PV power generation business operator Mobile phone [Browser access] Data collection Data viewing Notification of fault information Graphical display Numerical display Data on power generation facilities at various sites in Kyushu can be viewed through a web browser and readily used for research and development. [Acquisition and e-mail notification of device fault information] Internet Device, line or other fault information can be viewed through a web browser and can be automatically reported by e-mail. [CSV download] PV power generation facilities Numerical data that can be used in reports, etc. can be downloaded in CSV format. 2. System Development and Benefits System Development Graph showing Amounts of Power Generated at Multiple Plants 2. System Development and Benefits Benefits of System Development (1) Improved Facility Maintenance Speed - 40% reduction in average fault recovery time (2) Labor-saving and Improved Efficiency in Management - Reductions in initial and running costs - Reduction in maintenance personnel (3) Effective Use of Accumulated Data - Power generation forecasts based on the analysis of meteorological and power generation data. - Comparison of trends of multiple plants 3. Future Undertakings ◆ Capabilities to support large-scale photovoltaic power generation facilities ◆ A M2M (machine-to-machine)-based system using remote control technologies to enable control of decentralized power supply systems in smart grids ◆ Use of smart devices to realize greater mobility ◆ Data mining technology for accumulated information to enable the performance of tasks such as power generation forecasts and facility degradation diagnosis ◆ String monitoring technology to enable the early detection of solar panel faults and power generation loss This concludes my presentation. A3.8 : Cloud On-Premises Plant A PCS Manufacturer A Plant A PCS Manufacturer A Nishimu Data Center PCS Manufacturer B PCS Manufacturer B Plant B Plant B Management server PCS Manufacturer C PCS Manufacturer C Plant C Plant C Special Report Questions Q3.9 : -Does someone from the authors or audience have practical experiences in deploying and using of CC? A3.9 : To date, we have accumulated practical experience in on-premise systems. Full-fledged cloud services have emerged in Japan, too, and we have made use of cloud computing for the first time in developing this system. Regarding the adoption of cloud computing, we have also been able to use could services provided by other companies, but this development has given us comprehensive practical experience with cloud computing through the construction of a cloud environment at our data center. Special Report Questions Q3.10: - What are the benefits and disadvantages of CC? Could you quantify this? A3.10: Cloud On-premise Benefits No cost required for system management because of external operation. Easy to increase or reduce the use of the cloud. Capable to cope with changes in business environment. Relatively low risk because of the system deployed in the user’s facility. Relatively easy to link the system to other in-house systems because operation and maintenance of the system including servers can be carried out by the company. Disadvantages Security risks involved in access over the Internet. Considerations need to be given to fault tolerance because of aggregation of data in the cloud. Operation and management costs incurred continuously because the system is operated by the company. Reinvestment may be required to increase or reduce the scale of the system use. Special Report Questions Q3.11 : -WEB services are very useful in managing devices en services. How could we deploy and use them securely? A3.11 : Meteorograph Pyranometer Information Collection Solar panel Nishimu Data center Internet Power conditioner IP-based information transmission equipment Management server ・Techniques to prevent information leaks using IP-VPN (IP-Virtual Private Networks) ・ Encryption techniques using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) ・ Authentication using user IDs and passwords.
