THE TASTE OF PHILLY
Echoes the Heavenly Banquet
The day was filled with tasty treats and fun for all!
Our Taste of Philly 35th Anniversary Family
Celebration last Saturday was a huge success. The
air was filled with the temping aromas of fair from
Philly Cheese Steak to German Pastries and
everything in-between. More than 20 different
ministries shared their culinary talents and creative
amusements with some 500 families. Many of the
delicacies sold out fast. The kids enjoyed hockey,
basketball, a challenging rope bridge, face painting,
photo booth, ring toss and more. Having lived in
Philadelphia and partaken of the flavors it offers,
the delicious offerings on Saturday surpassed
anything I have eaten there. I would especially like
to thank all those that set up, coordinated, cooked,
cleaned and participated in this wonderful family
event. It certainly honored our patron saint and his
ministry and hospitality to so many immigrant
communities. What a hint of the heavenly banquet
that awaits us all; soft pretzels and all!

PASTOR’S REFLECTION
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 14, 2015
Dear friends,
Our actions, while not the cause of God’s kingdom,
do still matter in the coming of the Kingdom. Our
actions in this life do sow the seeds of the Kingdom.
We pray to the Lord, our God, that we may have the
courage to sow the seeds of His Kingdom. We pray
to the Lord our God, that we may have the courage
to sow the seeds of His Kingdom and anxiously
await their growth, so that we might be ready to
gather the abundant harvest that His Spirit produces.
Be assured of my prayers for you and your dear ones.
May the good Lord bless you with wisdom and
peace. Please pray for me.
In Christ,
Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Hail Mary, full of grace;
all generations call you blessed.
Hail Mother of God; when asked by the
angel to bear the Son of the Most High, filled
with faith, you responded: "Let it be done unto
me."
Holy Mother of Jesus,
at the wedding feast at Cana,
you prompted your Son to perform his first sign.
Be with us as we discern our life's work
and guide us in the way we are called to follow
in the footsteps of your Son.
Holy Mother of the Savior, at the foot of the cross
you mourned the death of your only Son.
Bless and embrace the loving parents of all
priests, deacons, brothers and sisters.
Holy Mother of the Good Shepherd,
turn your motherly care to this nation.
Intercede for us to the Lord of the harvest
to send more laborers to the harvest
in this land dedicated to your honor.
Queen of Peace, Mirror of Justice, Health of the
Sick, inspire vocations in our time.
Let the word of your Son be made flesh anew
in the lives of persons anxious to proclaim
the good news of everlasting life. Amen.

A WEEKEND RETREAT FOR MEN
THAT ARE LAW ENFORCEMENT &
FIREFIGHTERS (PAST AND PRESENT)
What is the Men’s Law Enforcement &
Firefighter Emmaus?
It is a retreat put on by men of the law enforcement and
fire fighting community, based on the appearance of Jesus
to the disciples walking along the Road to Emmaus
(Luke 24:13-35).
Why a Men’s Law Enforcement &
Firefighter Emmaus?
Because every emergency first responder could use
some time away from the hustle and bustle of today’s
busy world; allowing his Christian brothers in the law
enforcement & fire fighting community to serve him.
What happens during the weekend?
You will hear a few talks given by different men from
different Parishes. No lectures or assignments.
When? Friday, July 17, through Sunday, July 19
-Where? Morning Star Renewal Center
7275 SW 124 Street, Pinecrest, Florida 33156
-Is there a donation required?
Yes, a donation of $150.00. However, do not let this
prevent you from attending.

JUSTICE CORNER
Navigating Life’s Storms
Life can feel overwhelming. St. Paul urges us to
be courageous, walking by faith and not by
sight. Rather than feeling discouraged by our
inability to change things, the Scriptures remind
us that God is still in charge and earth is just our
temporary home.
We can make a difference in our world and in the
lives of people who are suffering because
God’s spirit empowers us. He blesses us with the
courage to face problems, ask questions,
engage in the issues of our time, and speak up for
what is right.
This week, think of someone you know who may
be going through a stormy period.
- How can you give them hope? Rather than
waiting for them to tell you their needs, show up
with a home-cooked meal, an offer to babysit, or
run errands. People often feel uncomfortable
asking for help, but when you show up, they are
eternally grateful.
PRAYER FOR PROTECTION
AGAINST STORMS
God Our Father
You set the earth on its foundation.
Keep us safe from
the danger of hurricanes and storms
and let us always
feel the presence of Your love.
May we be secure in Your protection
and serve You with grateful hearts.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and
ever.
Amen. Oh Mary conceived without sin,
Pray for us who have recourse to you.
