Estimados lectores,
Nos encontramos en la Temporada Alta de Verano y, una vez más,
aprovecho la oportunidad para agradecer su preferencia al volar con
nosotros a sus destinos favoritos en estas vacaciones. Estamos seguros
de que viajar en algunos de los equipos más modernos de nuestra flota
hará su experiencia todavía más placentera.
Me gustaría compartir con ustedes importantes noticias no sólo
para Aeroméxico, sino para la industria aeronáutica de nuestro país.
Como cada año, participamos en la Asamblea General de la Asociación
Internacional de Transporte Aéreo (IATA, por sus siglas en inglés), de
la que sólo tres aerolíneas latinoamericanas ocupan un asiento en la
Junta de Gobierno, entre ellas nosotros, desde hace ya años.
La IATA es uno de los organismos más importantes para la aviación
mundial, del que forman parte aerolíneas, que juntas concentran
el por ciento del tráfico de pasajeros en todo el mundo, un aproximado de mil millones de usuarios, y se estima que sus miembros
transportan millones de toneladas de carga. El código IATA, por
ejemplo, es el sistema con el que se identifican las terminales aéreas
en los cinco continentes. En este sentido, participar en la toma de decisiones como consejeros de esta organización es un reconocimiento al
prestigio de nuestra empresa.
Adicionalmente, para el periodo - presidiré la Junta de
Gobernadores de la IATA. Este nombramiento nos llena de orgullo pues
es un reconocimiento al papel que Aeroméxico tiene como la aerolínea
bandera de nuestro país, además de la importancia que América Latina
está tomando dentro de la industria aeronáutica con proyectos como
la construcción del Nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de
México, que cuenta con todos los elementos para convertirse en el hub
más importante de la región.
Entre los retos que debemos afrontar, está el de seguir consolidando
a la IATA como el organismo que con mayor transparencia y eficacia concentra los fondos de las aerolíneas que realizan vuelos internacionales
y de conexión, y los distribuye –como una especie de banco central–
de acuerdo con los tramos que hayan volado. Además, impulsaremos
iniciativas junto con la Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional, la
OACI, sobre mejora regulatoria, seguridad aérea y responsabilidad social,
especialmente aquellas a ser más amigables con el medio ambiente.
La aviación es una industria apasionante y todos los que estamos en
ella compartimos esa pasión por brindarles a nuestros clientes vuelos
cada vez más eficientes y placenteros. En Aeroméxico continuamos trabajando, junto con las autoridades, para implementar estas iniciativas
en beneficio de clientes como usted, además de posicionar a México
como un país a la vanguardia en temas aeronáuticos.

mexicanos y a México con el mundo.

We now find ourselves in the peak summer season, and I’d again
like thank you for choosing Aeromexico as you fly with us to your
favorite vacation destination. We’re sure that your experience traveling on our fleet, and some of the world’s most modern aircraft, will
make your experience even more enjoyable.
I’d like to share some important news with you, not only for
Aeromexico but for Mexico’s aviation industry as a whole. This year,
as is the case every year, we attended the International Air Transport
Association (IATA) General Meeting, on whose Governing Board only
three Latin American Airlines hold a seat; Aeromexico having been
one of these three for the last five years.
IATA is one of the world’s most important aviation organizations,
comprised of airlines which together handle per cent of the
world’s total passenger traffic- approximately . billion travelerswith an estimated million tons of cargo transported by the IATA
members. The IATA Code, for example, is the system used to identify
air terminals in the five continents. In this sense, our participation in
IATA’s decision-making process is further testament to our Company’s
prestige in the industry.
I will also Chair IATA’s Board of Governors for the - period.
I’m tremendously proud of this appointment, as it’s further recognition of Aeromexico’s status as Mexico’s global airline. This honor
also underscores the importance that Latin America continues to
gain within the aviation industry, with important large-scale projects
such as Mexico City’s new International Airport, which we expect will
become the most important hub in the region.
Among the challenges we need to face is to continue consolidating IATA as the organism that, in the most transparent and effective
manner, concentrates the funds of airlines making international and
connecting flights, and distributes them - in a sort of central bank
- according to the flight segments they have flown. Also, we will promote initiatives along the International Civil Aviation Organization,
the OACI, on regulatory reform, aviation safety and social responsibility, especially those to be friendlier to the environment.
Aviation is an exciting industry, and all of us who are a part of it
share a passion in offering our customers increasingly more efficient
and enjoyable flights. Aeromexico continues to working alongside
the authorities in order to implement the kinds of important initiatives that will benefit of customers, as well as positioning Mexico as
a country at the forefront in aviation matters.
We are proud to be the airline that unites Mexicans, and connects
Mexico with the rest of the world.

Why now, when a setting can be created on a computer, is
it still important to travel to a location to shoot a movie?
Barbara Broccoli: First, because it’s inspirational. We went
to look for locations and discovered the great visual language
of the Day of the Dead in Mexico and wanted to explore it.
This is the most expensive film in the series…
Barbara: Yes, it’s expensive. We always follow my father’s
(Albert Broccoli, responsible for bringing Bond to theaters)
rule: “put money on the screen and don’t fool the audience."
How does a country react when you contact it with the
proposal of making a Bond movie there?
Barbara: These movies follow the tradition of going to
exotic places and now it’s a challenge to find places where
people haven’t gone yet. We look for interesting destinations
and events, and the Day of the Dead is a perfect example.
Michael G. Wilson: Even if you go to a place like Rome,
that doesn't need more tourists, people love to be part of
the world of James Bond.

buscar locaciones y descubrimos en México el gran lenguaje
visual del Día de Muertos y lo quisimos explorar.
Ésta es la película más costosa de la serie…
Barbara: Sí, es cara. Siempre seguimos la regla de mi padre
(Albert Broccoli, responsable de llevar a Bond al cine): “Pon
el dinero en la pantalla y no engañes al público”.
¿Cómo reacciona un país cuando lo contactan con la propuesta de realizar una película de Bond en su territorio?
Barbara: Éstas películas siguen la tradición de ir a lugares
exóticos y ahora es un reto encontrar lugares a donde la
gente no haya ido. Buscamos destinos y eventos interesentes
y el Día de Muertos es un ejemplo perfecto.
Michael G. Wilson: Aunque vayas a un lugar como Roma,

Curiously, and just because the brand had nothing
to do with this selection, Omega didn't realize its watch
was being officially used by NASA astronauts until 1965,
when a picture of astronaut Ed White during a spacewalk
on the Gemini 4 Mission appeared on the cover of famed
Life magazine. White wore his Speedmaster outside his
spacesuit around his wrist with a long Velcro strap, a
material that made its debut in space. Shortly thereafter,
the brand added the words “Professional” on the Omega
Speedmaster face, endorsing its use as a vital instrument
on space missions.
e Speedmaster Professional's place in history was
assured when Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, the second man to
walk on the moon after Neil Armstrong, wore a Speedmaster on his arm; the first watch on the lunar surface
during the Apollo 11 mission. Omega commemorated the

espacios de la ciudad. El Kulturhuset (kulturhusetstadsteatern.se) es una de sus sedes, pero el resto del año es uno
de esos edificios que encierran varias de las premisas de
la ciudad y del país: diseño, arquitectura moderna y ocio
intelectual y gastronómico. En su piso inferior se halla
una biblioteca; salas de cine en los niveles intermedios;
y, en la parte superior, una cafetería con vistas a la Plaza
Sergels, la más céntrica.

country’s credos: design, modern architecture and intellectual entertainment and dining. On the lower floor is a
library; movie theaters are on intermediate levels; and, on
top, a cafe overlooking the Plaza Sergels, the most central.
Anika is a public relations executive who usually goes
to this cafe with her husband and children on Saturday afternoons. ey explained to me that inhabitants’

maintain their headquarters. ey are the new artists,
and are also customers of this kind of bar.

Si los ingleses tienen su inquebrantable tradición del
té de la cinco de la tarde, los suecos tienen la fika, que
comienza a tomarse en torno a las cuatro. La palabra en sí
no tiene una traducción literal, pero describe el momento
en que dos o más personas se encuentran y socializan en
torno a un café y un trozo de tarta o pastel. A veces, puede
hacerse una excepción con una taza de té, pero no es lo
habitual. Dos lugares son los favoritos de Ylva a la hora
de practicar la sana costumbre de la fika. Uno de ellos es
Sturekatten (sturekatten.se), por ser céntrico y uno de
los más emblemáticos de la ciudad. Es uno de los mejores
y, aunque está algo escondido en el número cuatro de la
calle Riddargatan, es un secreto a voces. Al estar situado en la zona de Östermalm es uno de los más visitados
no sólo por la gente local, sino también por los turistas.
Suele ser complicado encontrar mesa en hora pico, pero
la espera vale la pena. Todo lo contrario ocurre en Drop
Coffee –en el barrio de Södermalm–, mucho más tranquilo
aunque no por culpa de su oferta. “De hecho”, opina Ylva,
“es uno de los mejores de la ciudad”. Los amantes del café
tienen una parada obligada en este lugar, que tuesta el
producto allí mismo, además de seleccionar con extremo
cuidado los granos que ofertan en su carta. Es por eso
que no paran de ganar premios, tanto la cafetería como
sus expertos baristas, auténticos sibaritas del café que
pueden contar todos los secretos detrás de cada elección
que hagas en tu bebida.
En el hotel boutique Rival (rival.se) trabaja Raquel Tellez,
una española que vive en la ciudad desde hace casi siete
años con su marido de nacionalidad sueca, por lo que está
bastante integrada a la comunidad. El Rival, es uno de los
hoteles favoritos de los visitantes de la acogedora zona
de Mariatorget, pero también de los oriundos, aunque no
necesiten dormir en él. El lugar es copropiedad de Benny

secret. Being located in the area of Östermalm, it’s one of
the most visited, not only by locals, but also by tourists.
It’s often difficult to find a table at rush hour, but the
wait is worth it. Quite the opposite occurs at Drop Coffee
in the Södermalm neighborhood: it’s much quieter, but
through no fault of their menu. “In fact,” says Ylva, “it’s
one of the best in town.” is place is a must stop for
coffee lovers: they toast the beans on their menu right
there, after selecting them with extreme care. at’s
why they keep winning awards, both the cafe and its
expert baristas, real coffee connoisseurs who can tell all
the secrets behind every choice you make for your drink.
At the boutique hotel Rival (rival.se) works Rachel
Tellez, a Spanish woman who has lived in the city for
nearly seven years with her Swedish husband, so she is
quite connected to the community. e Rival is one of
the favorite hotels for visitors to the cozy Mariatorget
area, but also for inhabitants, although they don’t sleep
there. e place is co-owned by Benny Andersson, one of
the former members of the legendary group ABBA, and
has a theater with 700 seats, where performances and
concerts that appeal to all audiences are held.
