Blessing of the Oils
March 30, 2015 at 5:30pm
The Annual Chrism Mass for the
Blessing of the Holy Oils and
Renewal of Priestly Commitment
will be celebrated at St. Columban
Catholic Church on Monday of Holy Week, March 30,
2015 at 5:30pm. Bishop Kevin Vann will be presiding.
The Oil of the Sick and the Oil of the Catechumen will be
blessed and the Oil of Sacred Chrism will be consecrated
for use in each of the parishes at this diocesan celebration.
There will be a Dismissal Rite in English, Spanish Vietnamese and Korean for the Elect. Bishop Kevin encourages all
who will celebrate confirmation and baptism to attend.
St. Columban is located at 10801 Stanford Ave., on Garden
Grove.

A Message From Fr. Gilberto/ Un Mensaje del Padre Gilberto
I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that time is going really fast; here we are in the Fifth Sunday of Lent.
One more week and we will be celebrating Palm Sunday and then in two weeks we will be celebrating the Resurrection
of our Lord at Easter. During these two weeks we are offering the opportunity for you to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation at different parishes in our deanery, our penance service here at Saint Boniface will be on Thursday March
26th at 7:00p.m.. I really encourage you to take advantage of this sacrament during our Lenten season and to see the different dates and places that this sacrament is offered.
I would also like to extend an invitation to all of you to our 7:00 pm mass this Wednesday, March 25, the
Solemnity of the Annunciation. We will have the visit of Bishop Kevin Vann, who will come to celebrate a Lenten
Stational Mass; this mass will be celebrated in English, Spanish and Vietnamese to reflect the variety of our community.
Bishop Vann designated during this Lenten season five parishes in the Diocese of Orange to go and celebrate these Lenten Stational Masses and we have the privilege of being one of them.
I would also like to invite you to visit our parish website, which has been newly renovated, our website is
www.stbonifaceonline.org. Hopefully we can serve better, through technology, the needs of our community of Saint
Boniface and all of those who search for a church while they are on vacation or visiting the Anaheim area.

No se que opinen ustedes pero a mi me parece que el tiempo esta avanzando muy rápido, ya estamos en el
quinto domingo de Cuaresma. Dentro de una semana estaremos celebrando el Domingo de Ramos y en dos semana
estaremos celebrando la Resurrección del Señor en la Pascua. Durante estas dos semanas tenemos la oportunidad de
celebrar el sacramento de la reconciliación en diferentes parroquias de nuestro decanato, nuestro servicio penitencial en
San Bonifacio será el jueves 26 de marzo. En verdad les animo a que aprovechen este sacramento durante la temporada
de Cuaresma y que revisen la lista de lugares y fechas en donde se ofrece este sacramento.
También quiero extender una invitación a todos ustedes a nuestra misa de 7:00 pm, este miércoles, 25 de
marzo, la Solemnidad de la Anunciación del Señor. Tendremos la visita del Obispo Bishop Kevin Vann, quien estará
aquí para celebrar una Misa Estacional de Cuaresma, esa misa se celebrara en ingles, español y vietnamés para
representar nuestras diferentes comunidades. El Obispo Vann designo esta Cuaresma cinco parroquias de la Diócesis de
Orange para celebrar estas Misas Estacionales de Cuaresma y nosotros tenemos el privilegio de ser una de ellas.

MISA DEL SANTO CRISMA
Bendición de los Santos Oleos
30 de marzo del 2015 a las 5:30pm
La misa anual del Santo Crisma para la
bendición de los Santos Oleos y la
Renovación de las Promesas Sacerdotales será celebrada en la parroquia de
St. Columban el lunes de Semana
Santa, 30 de marzo del 2015 a las 5:30
p.m. El Obispo Kevin Vann celebrará
esta misa, bendecirá el óleo de los enfermos y el óleo de los catecúmenos y
se consagrara el Crisma para el uso de
cada parroquia. Habrá un Rito de Despedida para los
Elegidos en inglés, español, vietnamita y coreano. Nuestro
obispo Vann invita, de una manera especial, a todos los que
recibirán el sacramento de confirmación y bautismo. La
iglesia de St. Columban esta localizada en el 10801 Stanford
Ave. en la ciudad de Garden Grove.
Muchas diócesis, aquí mismo, en los Estados Unidos no
cuentan con suficientes sacerdotes y ministros laicos
capacitados para servir en sus parroquias. A estas
diócesis se les conoce como diócesis misioneras. El
Llamado para las Diócesis Misioneras se realizará este
fin de semana durante la segunda colecta y da apoyo a
estas diócesis otorgando fondos para los ministerios
básicos, incluyendo la educación de seminaristas y
capacitación para el ministerio laico. Por favor, sean
generosos en este llamado y compartan sus recursos para
fortalecer la Iglesia en casa. En las bancas encontraran
sobres para su donación.

Fifth Sunday of Lent/Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma
THE NEW COVENANT
When the prophet Jeremiah coined the term
“new covenant” he was actually doing something
quite radical. For the Jewish people, there was
only one covenant, the one made between the
Lord God and Israel through Moses at Mount
Sinai. For Jeremiah to suggest that God would
somehow supersede the covenant with a new
one would have sounded audacious to Jewish
ears. But in this way he is a predecessor of Jesus who, in the
Gospel of John, is continually portrayed as superseding the
past, establishing the reign of God in a new way. And in today’s
Gospel passage, Jesus the “new covenant” speaks the
language of his “new commandment” of love when he tells of
the dying grain of wheat, and of our own need to die to self in
order to be raised with Christ. As Lent ends and we prepare to
enter into Holy Week, the dying grain of wheat serves as an
excellent symbol of the kind of dying and self‑sacrifice to which
disciples are called, a symbol of that new covenant written deep

LA NUEVA ALIANZA
Cuando el profeta Jeremías creó el término
“nueva alianza” hacía algo muy radical. Para el
pueblo judío, sólo había una alianza, la que el Señor
Dios había hecho con Israel por medio de Moisés en
el Monte Sinaí. Cuando Jeremías dice que de alguna
manera Dios va a reemplazar la antigua alianza con
una nueva, seguro que sus oyentes pensaban que
era algo muy atrevido. De ese modo Jeremías es un
predecesor de Jesús, quien, en el Evangelio de Juan se presenta
siempre como alguien que reemplaza el pasado, estableciendo el
Reino de Dios de una manera nueva. Y en el pasaje del Evangelio de hoy, Jesús, “la nueva alianza” habla con el lenguaje del
“nuevo mandamiento” de amor cuando menciona el grano de
trigo que muere y nuestra propia muerte al egoísmo para poder
resucitar con Cristo. Al finalizar la Cuaresma y al prepararnos a
entrar en la Semana Santa, el grano de trigo que muere es un
símbolo excelente del tipo de muerte y auto-sacrificio al que los
discípulos están llamados, un símbolo de esa nueva alianza
