a PLATFORM for YOUNG JAPANESE DESIGNERS
at VENTURA LAMBRATE 2015 Ventura 14
EXPERIMENTAL CREATIONS is a platform for young Japanese that focuses on material experimentations and creative
processes and we are proud to announce that eight selected imminent designers will be exhibiting their work at VENTURA
LAMBRATE during Milan Design Week 2015.
In creating objects, it is important to contemplate extra value such as colors and touch, along with the design of physical
aesthetics and functionality
. Moreover, the design capabilities expand in midst of creative processes involving innovative
experimentations of materials, rather than during the design process of physical appearances using existing materials
.
The presentation of EXPERIMENTAL CREATIONS in Milan this spring is going to be a joint exhibition. The exhibition called
MATERIAL EXPERIMENTS is for the works generated from the handicraft processes. On the other hand, DIGITAL
EXPERIMENTS is where the fruit of additive manufacturing derived from the combination of digital fabrication and fabrication
technologies meets
. Together, they will showcase the promising works by eight young Japanese designers who explored the
maximum possibilities of materials and their usage.

マテリアル実験やクリエーションのプロセスにフォーカスしたプロジェクト
「Experimental Creations」
ミラノサローネ Ventura Lambrateに出展
マテリアル実験やクリエーションのプロセスにフォーカスしたプロジェクト「 Experimental Creations」はミラノサローネにおいて、ランブラーテ地区で開
催されるVentura Lambrate/ Ventura 14 に８組の日本人若手デザイナーと昨年に発表したマテリアルの実験を活かした商品を発表いたします。
デザインの新しい表現方法を提案するプラットフォーム
モノを作る時、形状の美しさや機能性に加え、触り心地や色などの付加価値を含めてデザインすることが大切です。すでに存在する素材を使ってカ
タチのデザインをするのではなく、素材自体をクリエイティブな発想で「実験」してクリエイションすることでデザインの可能性を広げていきます。
今回は手工業的なプロセスで生まれたプロダクトを発表する Material Experiments と、
デジタルファブリケーションと加工技術の組み合わせから生ま
れる Additive Manufacturing（付加製造）の実験も併せて発表します。素材が持つ可能性を最大限引き出しながら、次の展開（応用）を導き出し、そ
の価値と可能性を感じさせるアウトプットがいます。

STONE COMPOTE
Material: Outer skin of vegetables & fruits and ﬂoatstone
Process: Dried throughly after boiling.
MW:WW / More Works : With Wood

Process: Soaked in chemicals and dried throughly.
This world is ﬁlled with material. Questioning the extraordi
nary demand for wood, which seeks for easier fabrication and
maintenance in the result of increased usage of inorganic
material, the designer introduces this project of surface
treatment called to MW: WW to capture the act of breathing by wood. This project communicates the message that
the wood is a living material, by exposing pores in between
growth rings. After removing the adhesive element from
the main composition of wood, the ﬁnal product retains
an interesting texture as well as hygroscopicity and sound
absorbency. The architectural accessories and jewelry collec
tion inspired by this project is now available in market. More
over, the new collection of crutch bag, which was created
using tiles used for interior decoration and python leather in
association with this project, will also be presented.

More than 18 million tons of food goes to waste every year in
Japan. The vegetables followed by prepared food, fruits and
sea food are respectively the most wasted foods by quantity.
The majority of this food waste comes from discarding the
portion of food which is still edible. Taking this into consider
ation, the designer focused on utilizing the skin of vegetables
and fruits for this project. After numerous experimenta
tions, the designer discovered that the molecules of metal
well with the negatively charged molecules of vegetables
and generates a natural touch as a result. She decided to
apply this ﬁnding to her work by cutting up the outer skin of
selected vegetables & fruits and boiling it down with stone
material. Followed by drying process, the designer made
unique and delicious sable shorbread like tiles texturized with
excess skin . Created in association with this experiment was
the collection of punish and soap dish, which wlll be available

プロセス：水と熱を加えて煮込み、十分な乾燥を加える。
日本では年間 1,800 万トンの食品廃棄物が排出されています。最も多いのは野菜で、本来
食べられる部分を過剰に捨てている食品ロスです。この背景から、野菜・果物の「皮」に
注目。皮が持つ色素や機能を効果的に用いれないかどうか様々な実験を行いました。実験
を重ねるなか、石に含まれる金属が持つプラス分子は、植物が持つマイナス分子と結びつき、
自然の風合いを残しながら親和することが分かりました。そこで野菜や果物の皮と、石と水
分を共にコンポート（煮る）し、十分な乾燥を施し、皮の色素を石へと移行させました。表
面はまるでサブレのような美味しそうなテクスチャに仕上がりました。軽石とソープディッシュ
として販売予定です。製作協力：YUIRO
TASTE of CELLS

Technology & Process: Rhinoceros+Grasshopper
The vegetables and fruits that we eat everyday
are a collection of cells which give us pleasure
with their individually unique colors, shapes
and tactile sensations such as bumpy, spinous
and dinted textures. For this project, the
designer texturized the spoon surfaces using
Grasshopper to simulate the formation of
cells. Moreover, they are stained with the pig
ments extracted from the featured vegetable,
in hopes to sharpen our senses upon eating.

私たちが普段口にする野菜や果物などの植物は、小さな細胞がたくさ
えます。膨らんだ形状、尖った形状、凹んだ形状など、様々な表面テ
を製作しました。木を構成する主な組織から接着要素を除去し多孔質にすることにより、テ
クスチャで植物は特徴づけられています。今回はグラスホッパーを用
築金物やアクセサリーとして販売中。今回は新たに、インテリア内装材としてタイルと、パ
