September 2015 Studierenden – und Angestelltenstatus Forschungsgebiet: Die Doktoranden werden im internationalen Forschungsprojekt “School Alienation in Switzerland and Luxembourg (SASAL)” (gefördert durch die Swiss National Science Foundation und den Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg), am Projektstandort Universität Luxemburg (Belval Campus) arbeiten. Das Forschungsprojekt SASAL beinhaltet ein mixed-method sequential design, eine quantitative 3Wellen-Befragung von Schülerinnen und Schülern aus Primar- und Sekundarschulen sowie eine qualitative 2-Wellen-Untersuchung (Gruppendiskussionen mit Schülerinnen und Schülern sowie Lehrpersonen). Hauptziel sind neue Einblicke in die Ursachen und die Entwicklung von Schulentfremdung, welche als Grundlage für die Elaboration risikogruppenspezifischer Empfehlungen zur Steigerung des Bildungserfolgs dienen. Die Doktoranden werden in das multidisziplinäre Institute of Education and Society (Forschungseinheit ECCS) an der Universität Luxemburg eingebettet sein. Während eine Doktorandenstelle (Position 1) einen quantitativen Fokus hat, ist der Fokus der anderen Doktorandenstelle (Position 2) qualitative – auch wenn Wissen, Erfahrungen und Offenheit hinsichtlich mixed-method research bei beiden Stellen sehr erwünscht sind. Ihre Rolle:     Forschung: Vorbereitung und Mitarbeit im internationalen Projekt “School Alienation and Educational Inequalities in Switzerland and Luxembourg” (Andreas Hadjar, Universität Luxemburg; Tina Hascher, Universität Bern, Schweiz) am Standort Luxemburg. Verfassen einer Doktorarbeit zum Thema Schulentfremdung. Publikationen in peer-reviewed journals (Englisch und/oder Deutsch präferiert). Presentationen und Networking auf wissenschaftlichen Tagungen (Bildungswissenschaften oder Soziologie). Ihr Profil:       Master-Abschluss oder Diplom in Soziologie oder Sozialwissenschaften, Psychologie, Erziehungswissenschaften Profunde Kenntnisse zu Theorien und empirischen Befunden zum Bildungserfolg und seinen Bestimmungsfaktoren sowie Bildungsungleichheiten Position 1: Tiefgehende Erfahrungen mit quantitativen Forschungsmethoden (inkl. Principal Investigators are Andreas Hadjar, University of Luxembourg and Tina Hascher, University of Bern. The research project SASAL employs a mixed-method sequential design including a quantitative 3waves survey (sequential panel design) of primary and secondary school students and a 2-wave qualitative panel study based on group discussions with students (grade 6 and grade 7 to cover the transition phase from primary to secondary level) and teachers. As a main achievement, the project will gain new insights into the causes and the development of alienation in school, which serve as a basis for the elaboration of risk-group-specific suggestions of how educational success can best be supported. The early stage researchers/PhD candidates will be members of the multidisciplinary Institute of Education and Society at the ECCS research unit at the University of Luxembourg. While one doctoral student position has a quantitative research focus (Position 1), the other doctoral student position has a qualitative research focus (Position 2) – although knowledge, experiences and openness in regard to mixed-method research is highly appreciated.
