Free Gulyas luncheon for all members
The Board of Directors cordially invite all members to the Annual General Meeting to be held at the Home of the Danube
Swabians. This is a members-only gathering. If you would like to attend, and are not a member, please call us. You may
pay your membership fee at the door. We would be happy to welcome you.
As in previous years, we shall enjoy the free luncheon and the company of fellow members. This
is also an opportunity to discuss Club issues, past and future events and the like.

The Club membership fee has remained unchanged, though the fee for the newspaper
from Austria had to be increased.
Your fee for the BG newspaper subscription will be forwarded to Mr. John Brunner who
is the representative of the Burgenlaendische Gemeinschaft in Canada. He will forward the money to the BG in
Güssing, Burgenland, Austria.
A gentle reminder to our members who have yet to pay membership - and/or subscription fees for 2014. We are certain that
this is an oversight, but would appreciate receiving the outstanding amount. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate
to contact our President, Mrs. Gabriele Grof (416 282 5968), or our Membership Director, Mr. Adolf Graf (416 249 6865).
A personal invoice is enclosed. Thank you very much for your support.
Very important: Please notify one of the members of the Board of Directors if you are planning to attend the AGM. We
have to ensure that we have a sufficient amount of Gulyas ready for you. Board members are listed on page 4.

Sie findet am 12. April 2015, 12:00 Uhr mittags, im Heim der Donauschwaben,
1686 Ellesmere Road, Scarborough, ON, östlich von McCowan
statt.
Ein kostenfreies Mittagessen (Gulyas) wird allen unseren Mitgliedern
angeboten.
Diese Versammlung ist NUR Mitgliedern zugänglich. Sollten Sie nicht ein Mitglied sein möchten aber gerne
teilnehmen, dann bitte rufen Sie uns an. Sie können den Jahresbeitrag an der Kasse bezahlen. Wir heissen Sie zur
Jahresversammlung herzlichst willkommen.

Wie in früheren Jahren werden die Beiträge für den Klub und für die Zeitung aus Österreich gemeinsam behoben.
Der Betrag für die Zeitung der Burgenländischen Gemeinschaft wird danach von Herrn John Brunner, dem
Representanten der Burgenländischen Gemeinschaft in Kanada, persönlich an das Büro in Güssing weitergeleitet.

Wie ersichtlich wurde der Mitgliedsbeitrag für den Burgenländerklub Toronto nicht erhöht. Leider musste der
Beitrag für die Zeitung der Burgenländischen Gemeinschaft die in Güssing, Burgenland gedruckt und von dort
verschickt wird, erhöht werden.
Eine kleine Anzahl von Mitgliedern versäumte den Beitrag für das vergangene Jahr zu bezahlen. Wir sind
überzeugt, dass es sich hier um ein Versehen handelt möchten aber bitten, den offenen Betrag mit dem diesjährigen
zu bezahlen. Vielen vielen Dank! Eine persönliche Rechnung wurde beigelegt.
Eventuelle Fragen bitte an unsere Präsidentin Frau Gabriele Grof (416 282 5968) oder an den Schatzmeister/
Mitgliedsreferenten, Herrn Adolf Graf (416 249 6865) zu richten.
Ganz wichtig: Bitte informieren Sie ein Vorstandsmitglied wenn Sie planen an der Jahresversammlung
teilzunehmen damit wir auch genügend Gulyas für Sie zubereitet haben. Die Liste des Vorstandes ist auf der

MARTINI DANCE/MARTINSFEST/MARTINJA
2014
This year’s Martini Dance was again a memorable event. Every year, we enjoy
traditional foods of our culture, and dance with pleasure to the tunes of the
Golden Keys. This year, however, during intermission, we watched and listened
to a cow bell concert, that was performed by Ms. Cheri Koscher. This was a
rare treat as nowadays, very few people have the skill to play cow bells as an
instrument. Cheri learned this art of music as a child in the Edelweiss Club
Toronto. We sat mesmerized, and listened as Cheri played well-known tunes
such as “Edelweiss” and “Amazing Grace”. Thank you Cheri. A great
surprise!
Another surprise was the food! The home of the
Danube Swabians is now under new
management. The restaurant offers a variety of
multi-ethnic foods, which include traditional
German foods, but also foods from other parts of
the world. We had a chance to try “dosas” from
India, and enjoyed them. The new chef spent
seven years working in a restaurant in Düsseldorf.
He is excellent! We certainly would recommend
this new facility:

Das diesjährige Martinifest war
wieder einmal ein sehr erfreuliches
Fest. Es begann wie in früheren
Jahren, wir assen und tranken und
tanzten nach den Klängen der
Golden Keys Kapelle. Dieses Mal
gab es in der Pause etwas anderes:
Frau Cheri Koscher bot uns ein
Almglockenkonzert das uns alle
begeisterte. Als Kind lernte sie die
Kuhglocken zu spielen und hat es
bis jetzt nicht verlernt. Eine wahre
Überraschung die uns sehr gefiel.

Eine weitere Überraschung war das Essen das von dem neu
geführten Restaurant serviert wurde. JC’s GRILL HOUSE
bietet ein traditionelles Menu als auch internationale Speisen
an. Der Küchenchef war sieben Jahre lang in Düsseldorf
beschäft ist aber nicht nur mit der deutschen Küche vertraut.
Wir assen unter anderem auch “Dosas” aus Indien, für uns
ungewöhnlich aber sehr schmackhaft. Das neue Restaurant im
Donauschwabenklub können wir wärmstens empfehlen. Die

1. The largest agricultural product show of Europe (Die grüne Woche) was recently held in Berlin. 1600
exhibitors took part and numerous products from Burgenland were exhibited. Above all, wine from
Burgenland is very popular in Germany. 40% of all wine produced in Burgenland is sold to the
German Republic. The largest export market for Austria is Germany.

Recently, we reported on the 80th birthday of the famous Austrian pop star, Udo Jürgens. We regret to inform you, that Udo passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2014. May he rest in peace!
