Cathy Macqueen (UK)
We have lived in Cambodia since 2010. My husband Chris is the Strategy Manager for
World Vision and I am a consultant dietitian. Our oldest son graduated from HOPE last
year and is now studying for a geography degree at Leicester University, UK. Our
youngest son is in Year 11. We appreciate the strong Christian ethos of HOPE and the
way this has helped nurture our children’s faith. I have had the joy of serving HOPE
through being part of the Parent Council for the past 3½ years.
Elisabeth Sommer (Switzerland)
My husband Ueli and I have had the privilege to serve in Cambodia since
1996, where our three daughters, currently age 15, 16 and 18 (a graduate
from HOPE in June 2014), have grown up. With the challenges of family
and ministry in Cambodia, I treasure the blessing HOPE School and the
staff are for my family. As a missionary and home economics teacher, I am
passionate about education and how biblical values shape individuals and
nations. I am also passionate about supporting my own children and the HOPE School community to fulfill
their mission and destiny, and flourish and excel. Ueli and I serve with YWAM’s University of the Nations,
where apart from being a Mom, I am a member of the Phnom Penh leadership team.
Kee Park (USA)
As a parent of three Hope students, two in secondary and one in primary, being
involved in their school is a matter of high priority for me. Having been a member of
the Parent Council last year has provided me with some understanding of the
importance of the Parent Council. I hope to be able to serve the needs of our
students and parents as well as our teachers by fostering better understanding and
continued pursuit of excellence. I am a board certified (USA) neurosurgeon currently
teaching Cambodian neurosurgical trainees as the country representative for the World Federation of
Neurosurgical Societies.
Kim Seong Nyeo (South Korea)
My husband and I are dentists and we have lived in Cambodia for 10 years. We have
2 children at HOPE (Year 8 and 10). I am already involved in supporting Korean
parents at HOPE School and would like to help further by being a link person
between them and the Parent Council.
Mamta Keren Kumar (India)
I am married to Subodh Kumar who is Global Head of Monitoring and Evaluation for
Food for the Hungry. We have two kids at HOPE. I am a trained Executive Secretary
and have worked at Mount Carmel School, YMCA, Christian Institute of
Management and the Leprosy Mission. As Office Manager my role was to interact
with parents, teachers and student bodies and to provide secretarial assistance to

the governing boards. I enjoy interacting with parents and students, learning from others and gaining new
insights, especially in an international context. I am sure that experience from my former roles would be an
asset for the Parent Council.
Melissa Mora (USA)
My family and I moved to Cambodia almost 2½ years ago with an organization
called Crosswold. So far it's been a great adventure. HOPE School has been an
integral part of our lives here and I want to be able to give back, through helping
on Parent Council. In addition to my role as a mom and wife, I'm involved with a
dance project called DMIC which helps children develop critical thinking through
the medium of dance. Although I myself am not a dancer I love the arts and
helping children grow through their interaction with the arts.
Michelle Park (South Korea)
I am delighted to serve as editor for The Christian times (a weekly Korean
magazine) and to also work with my husband in Mirae Vision, an NGO for the
education of Multi-culture kids. We have a son in Year 5 at HOPE. I would like to
serve on Parent Council to help make the school a better place and to learn new
ideas from the Parent Council and staffs.
Mieneke Mathew (Netherlands)
I am the mom of 4 kids at HOPE, who are equally distributed between HOPE
Primary and HOPE Secondary! Besides managing the Mathew Menagerie, I am the
TCK member care person for the Interserve team in Cambodia. My studies were in
the area of Adoption Psychology and my professional experience has been in the
areas of training and mentoring child care workers. I've been part of Parent Council
since 2011 and see this as a great chance to serve the children, teenagers, staff and
families of HOPE.
Tim Krenz (Canada)
I am married to Christine, who some of you know as the teacher who covered
some of the music classes at the end of last year. We have five children, 4 of whom
attend HOPE. Our family appreciates how HOPE has helped us anchor our
children’s education while on the mission field. I am excited by the opportunity to
serve on the HOPE Parent Council and look forward to contributing to the school by
working with other parents, the staff, and the Board to passionately pursue HOPE’s
vision and mission into the future. I know I will bring energy and enthusiasm to the
initiatives and activities Parent Council undertakes to support the mission and
vision of the school.
