The UV meter shows the intensity of UVB (also called SUV – Sunburning UV) in Minimal Erythemal Doses per Hour (MED/Hr), the accepted clinical measure for sunburn potential. The UVA detector measures UV intensity in the range between 320 and 400 nm, displaying UVA irradiance in milliwatts per square centimeter. Also available as the UV Minder® Model 3D-XP Xeroderma Erythemal UV Intensity Meter for measuring very low UV intensity to 3 decimal places. Please specify wavelength range required when ordering. The UV meter is very easy to use with its sensors mounted on the meter, making UV measurement easy, and its light weight makes it very easy to handle. The UV Minder UV meter is a very versatile instrument. The UVA and SUV sensors are conveniently mounted on the top of the meter, making it easy to point the sensor at the target and register the result by selecting the desired sensor. A green flashing indicator light on the keypad shows which sensor is active. Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading. To release, press the HOLD button again. Turning off the meter also resets the hold status. The HOLD function is useful if the detector needs to be in a place where the display can not be read. Once the detector is in place press the HOLD button. You can now move the detector and meter to a position where you can read the display. An analog output is provided at the bottom of the meter. This allows the user to continuously monitor and record the intensity irradiated on the active detector. Recording can be accomplished by a strip chart recorder or an A/D card connected to a computer. Plug the supplied 0.141 inch phone plug into the analog output jack. The red lead is positive and the black lead is negative. The calibration factor for the analog output is 0.1[Volt/(MED/HR)] or 0.1[Volt/ (mW/cm2)].
