ARREST OF SUSPECT IN
AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON CHILDREN
The Montpelier Police Department concluded a seven month investigation involving Aggravated Sexual
Assaults on Minors (repeated) with the arrest of Mark Sadan (75) of Ossining, NY. During the first week
in December, MPD investigators spent several days in Westchester County, NY, working with detectives
from Ossining PD and Carmel PD in an attempt to locate and apprehend Sadan. At some point during the
time MPD officers were in New York, Sadan fled the state and was tracked to Florida. Due to his fugitive
status and suspected location, the MPD requested assistance from the United States Marshals Service in
Burlington, VT to aid in his capture.
On Friday morning, December 19, 2014, a Fugitive Apprehension Team from the US Marshals located
and arrested Sadan in Bradenton, Florida. Sadan will be arraigned in Vermont District Court upon
extradition from Florida to Vermont.
The Montpelier Police Department would like to thank the Ossining PD, Carmel PD, Vermont State
Police, and the US Marshals for their support and assistance with the investigation.
