_ No change to the amount you pay
Dear customer,
We have got some good news for you to kick off the new year! The contribution you pay towards
your health insurance is fixed for 2015, so you don't have to worry about any changes.
What is new, however, is that due to changes in the law, the contribution is broken down differently.
From January, the general contribution rate will be 14.6% and the additional contribution to AOK Hessen will be 0.9%. This means that the total amount will remain the same and you will not have to worry
about any changes. The national average additional contribution for all health insurance providers in
Germany has in fact been fixed at 0.9% by the German Federal Ministry of Health.
You will find additional information on the reverse of this letter. An overview of the additional contributions for all statutory health insurance providers is also available on the website of the German National
Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-Spitzenverband).
AOK Hessen will continue to provide you with nothing but the very best for your health, with premium
services, first-rate care and personal consultations always close at hand – all at the same attractive
price. You can read about all the benefits AOK offers you in the attached leaflet.
You should be aware that following the introduction of the additional contribution, you have the right to
cancel your policy under section 175, para 4, sentence 5 of Book V of the German Social Code (SGB
V). We will continue to be your competent and reliable partner going forward and thank you for continuing to place your trust in us.
We wish you and your family good health and much success in 2015.
Best wishes,
AOK – your health insurance provider in Hessen

Important information for you
General information:
As we outlined on the front page of this letter, the general contribution rate of 14.6% applies for all health
insurance providers. Members who are not entitled to sickness allowance and those in military or civilian
service pay 14.0%. Every health insurance provider charges its own additional contribution.
Please note that there are specific regulations for each of the following categories of people:
Employees
You, as the employee, and your employer will each pay half of the contributions that are taken from your
wages or salary. The additional contribution is paid in full by you, as the employee. As has always been
the case, your employer will transfer the entire contribution.
Recipients of unemployment benefits
The German Federal Employment Agency or local institutions will pay your contributions in full.
People with voluntary insurance
You will receive another letter to let you know exactly how much your contribution will be as of January 2015. We regret that we are unable to send that letter out with this letter due to administrative limitations.
Pensioners
You, as the pensioner, and your pension scheme provider each pay half of the contributions that are taken from your state pension. The additional contribution is paid in full by you, as the pensioner. This will
apply from 1 March 2015 onwards. As has always been the case, the pension scheme provider will transfer the entire contribution.
Students
You will receive a separate letter to let you know exactly how much your contribution will be as of January 2015. We regret that we are unable to send that letter out with this letter due to administrative limitations.
Policy holders with the AOK sickness allowance optional tariff
If you have chosen an optional tariff and the initial period of three years is not yet up, please be aware
that you do not have any exceptional right to cancellation.
Other income subject to contributions
If you have any other income for which you personally pay contributions to us, we will send you a separate letter to let you know how much your contributions will be as of January 2015. We regret that we are
unable to send that letter out with this letter due to administrative limitations.
