The next session of classroom driver’s education is January 12–23 from 3:15 – 6:15 in Room 217. If you signed up for this class please remember to pay the remainder of your fee before the first class on January 12th. College Visits New Items – Middle School Middle School students going skiing for Incentive Day need to have their parents sign the rental forms and have them returned by this Friday, January 9. Prairie Centre Bantams Take First In Alexandria Tournament: On January 3 and 4, the Prairie Centre Bantam Hockey team traveled to Alexandria to compete in tournament play. On Saturday, the boys began the tournament by taking on Hibbing. The team came out strong and skated to an 8-‐0 victory. Later that evening, the boys took the ice again to face the team from Morris/Benson. The Morris/Benson Storm were smaller but quick and provided the Prairie Centre North Stars with a fast paced game. The North Stars ended the game with a 7-‐2 win. The championship game found the North Stars facing the hometown team of Alexandria on Sunday. The two teams went head to head for much of the game but in the end, Prairie Centre came out victorious with a 4-‐1 final score. If you are a daughter/sister of a dairy farmer or work for a dairy farmer and are between the ages of a senior in high school and under 24, you are asked to share your knowledge of the dairy industry and promote your family’s business and way of life to the public by participating in this year’s Dairy Princess Program. "Optimism should be a Priority" Essay Contest, Sponsored by the Central MN Optimist Club. The essays must be at least 700 words but no more than 800 words, typewritten & double-‐spaced. Two first place awards of $125 each, two second place awards of $100 each and two third place awards of $75 each. The two first place winners will have their essays entered in the district level competition for potential to win a $2,500 scholarships. There is room for students to be creative in how they think about optimism and why it needs to be a priority. Deadline is Jan 31, 2015. ACT PREP COURSE -‐-‐ Juniors in high school, this is a great class to prepare you for the ACT test, become comfortable with the process and more confident. All four test sections will be covered: Reading, Writing, Math and Science. Students will also take and score a sample test. (Do not take the sample tests before the class.) The course will include test-‐taking strategies that will help improve scores. Instructors have been offering this course for 17 years, and are experienced high school teachers.
