We are especially grateful for the voluntary ministry offered by our 3 OLM’s (Jennifer, Hazel and Angela) and our 2 LLM’s (Peter and Brian). Having helped us through the vacancy period prior to Mat’s arrival, they continue to help us in our work at St Mary’s to further God’s kingdom. We are aware that many Church members are giving a lot of their time to help with the work and mission of our Church – but if you feel that you can offer time, talents or skills – please speak to Mat or one of the wardens or the Church office. Top Soil Due to groundworks to allow the installation of cycle racks by the Church rooms entrance, we have a quantity of good quality topsoil. If you would like a bag of this – please speak to David Swithinbank to arrange delivery. Thank YOU A big thank you from Mat, Emma, Molly and Toby for all the cards and gifts we received at Christmas. Refelecting on 2014 We started the year in vacancy, preparing the paper work to advertise for a new Vicar, including a morning of prayer for the right candidates resulting In MARCH of the appointment of Reverend Mat Ineson. We enjoyed a weekend at Lee Abbey and many of us resolved to return for further visits. We’ve held concerts from Opera Alumnus, Red Maids’, Bristol Fashion Chorus, Mosaic Singers, Bristol Male Voice Choir, Vospiri Choir, Tessitoura Operatic Company and soloists from Welsh National Opera. We held an exhibition of the replica Turin Shroud and welcomed many visitors to our Church. During the year we were sad to see the closure of two long standing groups -the Bridge group and our Preschool, and we said farewell to several of our Church members and prayed with families and friends. Some of the congregation have moved away – some far afield but several to the welcoming shelter of St Monica’s. It’s good to keep in touch with friends and family and to see them at occasional services or events. We also said goodbye and good luck to our youth team as they left us to further their careers and studies in other places. We said hello to several new faces and celebrated with many couples who were married and with families who brought children to Church for Baptism. Then in September we welcomed Mat and his family to our parish and enjoyed a glorious time at Trinity with a hog roast lunch by way of celebration. We also welcomed new Youth Leaders , John and Emma Dobson and several Trinity students who are training with us. In October, many of the congregation took part in a Commemoration of the centenary of World War One and we hosted an exhibition put on by the Local History Group. One of the year’s highlights has to be Jeronimo and Josh (donkeys ) who came to our Winter Warmer. And so into 2015……… What does the next year have in store for us at St Mary’s? Some changes? Some new Ideas? Renewal of old well-thought out activities…….? The assurance of God’s love. A message from Pope Francis: At the beginning of this New Year, which we welcome as God’s gracious gift to all humanity, I offer heartfelt wishes of peace to every man and woman, to all the world’s peoples and nations, to heads of state and government, and to religious leaders.
