Re: Extended School Year- Summer School
Rockland BOCES will be offering a Summer School program for eligible students during July and August of
2015. An application for employment and the guidelines for hiring will be posted on the Rockland BOCES
website. This information can be accessed by logging onto the Rockland BOCES website
(http://www.rocklandboces.org) and clicking on QUICK LINKS. The Summer School Application will be
available to read, download and submit on January 26, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.
Please be aware that the application deadline is February 13, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. All applications must be
fully and accurately completed and submitted by this date and time. The applications will be reviewed and
the selected applicants will be forwarded to the Superintendent for consideration. The Superintendent is
responsible for making all recommendations to the Board of Education for final approval. Please note: any
applications submitted after 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2015, will be considered on an as needed basis.
Rockland BOCES has established a sound reputation for providing quality summer school programs and we
intend to continue this tradition. As you are aware, the summer school program is only six (6) weeks in
length. Attendance and active participation during the entire summer school program operation are key to
student success. We discourage applicants who are not willing to invest in the students being served during
this time period.
The orientation date for staff is scheduled for Monday June 29, 2015. All staff who work in the summer

school program are expected to participate in Orientation Day on June 29 . The students will attend the
summer program beginning on Monday, July 6, 2015 and the final day will be at the close of school on
Friday, August 14, 2015.
As in the past, program hours have been scheduled from approximately 8:15 am – 2:30 pm each day. More
specific details regarding summer school will be sent to all staff once student enrollment has concluded and
the programming needs have been assessed.
