“Unleash the POWER of Tiger Pride!”
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Principal’s News
As we prepare for the winter holidays, we are also entering cold and flu season, please be sure
that your children are dressed warmly each day! Remember that students must be fever free
for 24 hours without medication before returning to school if sent home with a temperature!
Also, students must have a completed medication form on file to take any medication at
school. Thanks for helping us all keep healthy!
Notice the blue tape? We are working to reinforce our PBIS expectations in the hallways and
cafeteria. Thanks in advance for supporting our schoolwide expectations!
Interim reports will go home with students on December 3th. Thank you for conferencing with
teachers and helping students be sure that students complete and turn in homework each night
to reinforce skills. If your child is missing assignments, or needs additional help, they are
welcome to stay for Study Hall on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:05-4:15.
Parents, as we strive to keep students safe, please limit opportunities for students to walk
home unaccompanied, even with written parent permission. This is especically important with
shortened daylight hours-we appreciate your partnership!
As we enter the holiday season, please take the time to enjoy special times with
those that you love, and those who love you! On behalf of our entire Tiger
Family, have a wonderful holiday!
With Tiger PRIDE,
Patrice W. Brown
Principal

Early Dismissal Procedures
Parents: If you are going to pick your student up early please send a note with him/her in the morning. This will
enable us to have your student waiting for you when you arrive. We cannot guarantee early dismissal and
transportation change requests will be delivered after 2:45 p.m. We know that things come up unexpectedly
during the day but if something unplanned arises please call the front office at 316-5833 as quickly as possible. This
will help us to avoid last-minute calls to the classroom and disrupting the learning environment. Parents of 6th
Graders: After 1:30 it becomes more difficult to get your student to the office quickly for early dismissal. Please
contact the office prior to 1:30 if you need to pick up your 6 th grader early. NOTE: The last week before Winter
Break are extremely busy. If you plan to travel and need to pick up your student early please notify the
office early in the day.
LUNCH PROCEDURES
You are welcome to come and have lunch with your student at any time. Our cafeteria staff works extremely hard
to provide a hot, nutritious lunch for students each day. If you wish to bring outside food that is permissible,
however, please do not place fast-food orders to be delivered for your student. Guilford Middle School cannot
accept delivery of fast-food to a student at any time.
