Linda Perez and Bruce Wertz began work with SOS on January 8. Linda Perez has more than 25 years’ experience leading, facilitating, and supporting compliance operations and engineering efforts in large, grid-management system environments. Her efforts have focused on compliance issues in the power industry and helped facilitate a culture of compliance within organizations. Prior to Linda’s association with SOS, she worked as a consultant where she assessed client compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and 693 standards to report and address deficiencies or gaps. She prepared Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets for compliance audits, wrote client policies, procedures, and guidelines to establish compliance, and served as a subject matter expert during compliance audits. Linda worked six years with the Western Electricity Coordinating Council managing the Reliability Coordinator function for the Western Interconnection. Prior to that, she assisted NERC with readiness evaluations of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council entities and helped conduct on-site compliance audits among other responsibilities in her role as Manager of Compliance. Bruce Wertz brings a breadth of compliance knowledge to SOS through his wide range of experience in the electric utility industry. His successful track record in performing due diligence, designing operational processes and procedures, developing process improvements, audit preparation and documentation controls, assessing compliance, and developing best practices brings an additional dimension to the SOS compliance team. During his six-year engagement with the Public Service Electric and Gas, Bruce developed, implemented, and managed the reliability compliance programs applicable to the Texas generation assets, developed and maintained an effective and reliable system to ensure compliance with NERC and Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) reliability standards, and managed all matters related to Sarbanes-Oxley. Bruce brings additional experience through his nine years of work as a NERC/ERCOT consultant while acting as a conduit for clients to ensure compliance with NERC, CIP, and ERCOT-mandated requirements. He also developed management systems to assist utilities in demonstrating compliance with those standards. He has managed the internal and external audit processes necessary to maintain consistent standards and lead teams to respond to potential inquiry, spot check, compliance investigation, event analysis, and audit requirements for a variety of clients. Most recently, Bruce worked on two NERC audits with Texas Reliability Entity and one with the SERC Reliability Corporation. “Both Linda and Bruce bring a depth of experience and perspective to SOS’s compliance program. We are fortunate to have them join our team so we can better serve our clients in complying with NERC standards,” commented Rocky Sease, CEO of SOS.
