ARE YOU READY TO PARTICIPATE? SOME MEDICAL PRECAUTIONS
It's important that you do listen to your body and of course your doctor, before turning up at the start line on 28th December.
Most medical emergencies during the race occur in people who push themselves on race day or are unwell. If you feel feverish,
or have been vomiting, have had severe diarrhoea or chest pains or generally are feeling unwell, then it is unfair to you and
your family to risk serious illness and become a medical emergency.
Irrespective of whatever may be your age or for how long you may have trained, we sincerely advise you to obtain a medical
clearance from a registered medical practitioner/ doctor allowing you to run in the event.
Please review the following questions before the Race Day:

recommended by a doctor?

RACE DAY MEDICAL ADVISORY
Runners are advised to carry their own specific prescribed medicines. You must stop running the race immediately if instructed
to do so by a member of the medical crew – this is in the interest of your health and safety.
SLOW RUNNERS
The time limit to complete the Champions With Disability route is 45 minutes from the official start time. If you cannot finish
the race by this time and are still determined to reach the finish, please keep to the footpath and stay off the road, as
participants of Ananda Run will pass by the same race route.
The event crew will be stationed at Finish Line till 9:10 a.m. on race day to welcome you after your run.

CWD FINISH VENUE
The Finish of CWD category is opposite the Basketball Court, West of Red Road, Kolkata.
Welcome the finish line with your arms wide open! Do not obscure your running bib as you cross the finish line – officials,
television and photographers will find it difficult to identify you. Once you cross the finish line, keep moving ahead towards the
CWD holding area – please do not wait/stop near the finish area as you will come in the way of your fellow runners who would
be crossing the finish line.
The finish is a secure area – you should arrange to meet your supporters only outside the holding area near Eden Gardens.

SOME RACE DAY TIPS
Photo Certificate
BEFORE
Do read through the event information given here once again. Particularly take note of the section on medical conditions
and your running number bib.
If you have been feverish, or have been vomiting, have had diarrhoea or chest pains or generally are feeling unwell, it is our
sincere advice you DO NOT participate on race day.
Do get to the Champions with Disability holding area with plenty of time to spare. Also be aware of locations of all facilities.
These have been indicated in this booklet on page 6.
Make sure you pin the running number bib on as directed using the pins provided to you at the expo. Do not fold or cut your
number bib in any way.
Always listen out to any announcements from the Event Promoter. Some things may change on the day and this is the only
way they can communicate it to you.
Try and plan your visits to the toilets carefully. Near to start time there are likely to be big queues, so the sooner you act the
better!
DURING
Don't allow friends who aren't registered in the event to run alongside you. It is unfair on those who have registered.
If there are a few of you running together be aware of those behind you who might be trying to get past. Don't line up
across the width of the road, try and be in single file as much as possible. If you hear someone trying to get past move
across as soon as you can and let them go.
Don't suddenly stop in the middle of the race. If you feel you need to catch your breath, move across to the side of the road
first and take whatever action is needed. Chaos will result if you suddenly stop without warning!
Water stations are often the place where most damage can be done. Don't suddenly veer across in front of another
participant to grab a bottle. Take your turn and remember that often the far end of the station will be empty.
When you leave from a water station don't just drop a water bottle on the floor where it could be tripped on by another
runner. Do dispose off/throw your used water bottles in the dust bin provided or on to the side footpath. Our volunteers will
be able to clear off these bottles easier and faster.
3
When you overtake someone don't cut straight in front of them. Give it a few meters before you try and take your original
line. Similarly make sure you try and let runners past who may be going a bit faster than you. Move over if you have to and
let them have the quickest way past.
AFTER
When you reach the finish line, keep moving ahead. Medical aid and water is available post the finish line.
Do not stand at the finish line to pose for pictures. Remember your fellow participants too need to cross the finish line.
Once you have crossed the finish line, do not suddenly stop movement – it is important you continue to walk.
Do reach out to the nearest volunteer at the finish in case you need any medical attention.
RACE DAY EMERGENCIES
For any assistance or to report a medical or any other emergency you may observe on race day, reach out to the event
volunteer closest to you or simply call the Event Helpline Number +919867722855. We look forward to your cooperation and
assistance in making this event a safe and enjoyable one for all.
