TB1000
truBLUE Bluetooth Balanced
Transmission Kit
Installation and Operating Instructions v1.1
Description
The TB1000 kit allows the source music or audio to be played back
wirelessly through your home amplifier and speakers.
Clean only with dry cloth. Unplug this product from the wall outlet
before cleaning.
The Knoll TB1000 truBLUE Bluetooth transmission system consists of a
BIB in-wall Decora style Bluetooth receiver (with a wired stereo input
and infrared emitter output) with a BSR balanced stereo receiver and
power supply. A Bluetooth signal (from a smart phone, tablet or
laptop) or wired stereo signal is received at the in-wall stereo receiver
and is sent down a connecting cat 5 or cat 6 wire to the BSR where it
can be sent to a stereo amplifier and speakers (not provided with this
kit).
Do not install near any heat sources such as stoves or other apparatus
(including amplifiers) that produce heat.
The connecting cat 5 wire can be up to 1000’ long (325 m). Power for
the system is on the BSR only.
Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly
at the plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit
the apparatus.
A TB1000 key feature is the ability to keep your Bluetooth enabled
source device next to you at all times, so you know what is playing
and can easily make changes without having to move to a docking
station.
Do not use this apparatus near water (for example a bathtub, wash
bowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, wet basement, swimming pool, or
other areas located near water).
Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
Unplug this apparatus when unused for long periods.
The manufacturer does not assume any responsibility for personal
injury or property damage incurred due to its interaction with the
Bluetooth Music Receiver and sources (iPhone iPod etc.).

Connecting to your home amplifier or receiver and speakers
Reconnecting your Device
The TB1000 provides a fixed level (line level) output, which means that it needs
to be connected to an amplifier or powered speaker that has a volume control.
Some, but not all, Bluetooth enabled devices (cell phone, laptop, etc.) have the
ability to adjust the volume built into them.
If you move out of range or turn off the Bluetooth feature on your iPhone or
iPod, the BIB will disconnect from your device. To reconnect, simply access the
Bluetooth Manager on your device, and select the appropriate device listed. You
should not be asked to enter the PIN code again.
Install the BIB in-wall Decora Bluetooth receiver in your chosen location and
connect it to the BSR using cat 5e or cat 6 wire up to 1000’ using RJ45
connectors. Do not coil excess cat 5 wire. Use a really good quality RJ45
crimp tool, as this is the number 1 source of current and future
problems in this type of installation. Connect the BSR to your amplifier or
powered speaker with the RCA jacks on the BSR. Adaptors may be needed.
Connect the included 15 VDC power adaptor to the BSR and plug it into the
wall.
Changing Connected Device
Once the power adaptor is on the BIB Bluetooth receiver (BIB switch may need
to be switched on) blue and red LED lights will alternate to indicate that it is
powered up and ready to be paired with your Bluetooth source device (such as
iPad, cell phone, etc.)
Bluetooth Pairing
1.
Go to the Bluetooth Manager of your source device by following these
steps.
a. From your source (iPhone, iPod etc.) home page, select “Settings”
b. Inside Settings tap on “General” or “Wireless settings”
c. Inside General, tap on “Bluetooth”
2.
Select “Bluetooth devices” or “Bluetooth settings” and scan for
(Bluetooth) devices.
A device should soon be displayed on the list that usually reads “Knoll
DC-8BT”. Select it by touching it or clicking on it.
If required enter ‘0000’ when the player asks for the pin code. This will
allow the source to pair with the BIB Bluetooth receiver.
Once paired the blue LED light will stay on when a connection is
established.
3.
4.
5.
Some devices, such as the iPhone, may connect immediately after pairing and
the LED will stay on. Other devices, such as laptops, may ask you if you wish to
connect and the LED may turn off until after pairing is established.
Although the BIB Bluetooth can only play music from one device at a time, it is
capable of being paired with up to four source devices. This means that you
only have to enter the PIN code one time for each device.
If you want to switch from one device to another follow these steps:
1. End the existing Bluetooth connection with the connected device.
Access the Bluetooth Manager and disable the Bluetooth function of
the iPhone or iPod touch.
2. The BIB Bluetooth receiver can now be connected to a different source
such as an iPhone or iPod.
3. Follow the directions in “Bluetooth Pairing” to connect to a different
device.
Out of Range or Lost Signal
If the source music device is out of range (beyond 25-50 feet) of the BIB or if
something is blocking the signal, the LED light will turn off to indicate that the
Bluetooth connection with the music device has been lost. To avoid lost
connections:
1. Move the music device back into range (within 25-50 feet) and/or
make sure there is a clear line of sight and that there are no
obstructions between the BIB receiver and the music source (iPhone or
iPod etc.).
2. Within 15 seconds the connection will automatically be reestablished
and the blue LED light will turn on.
3. If the connection is lost for more than 15 seconds, the connection will
need to be reestablished. Follow the directions in “Reconnecting your
Device” above.
Troubleshooting Solutions: You can quickly solve most
problems with your TB1000 system by yourself:
“Music is not playing on my stereo speakers”



Your TB1000 Bluetooth transmission kit is now connected and ready to play
music! Simply play music on your device, as you normally would and the sound
will come out of your stereo speakers.

Please note the BIB Bluetooth receiver has a maximum 50’ (15m) range in ideal
conditions and has a typical range of 25’ (7 m).


Make sure the power supply is powered.
Make sure an audio cable is correctly and firmly connected to the
BSR receiver and your home stereo amplifier or powered speaker.
Make sure the stereo amplifier is powered on and the right source is
selected.
Make sure the stereo volume is set to a comfortable listening level
(on both the stereo amp and the source).
Make sure you are within range of the BIB receiver and that your
source (iPhone, iPod etc.) is properly paired to the BIB receiver.
If you are still unable to get sound from your TB1000 kit, it may be
necessary to un-pair and re-pair with your device. This
can be done by removing or ‘forgetting’ the DC-8BT from
your device Bluetooth manager and repeating the steps to
pair to your device.
