DGP asks jawans to prefer public service to personal comforts

all the ranks of Jammu and
Kashmir Police to improve
their proficiency and gain
public confidence.
Rajendra was addressing a Darbar of Officers
and Jawans at District
Police
Lines
(DPL)
Srinagar today. He said
that public service is the
prime duty of JKP, reiterating that safety of human
lives and public property
has remained among top
priorities of the force. He
said that the force, despite
facing tough challenges,
has succeeded which is
evident from the fact that a
sense of security is prevailing among the public.
He said, with the active
cooperation of the people,
the force has succeeded in

and it is our endeavour to
keep the peace maintained
at all levels. Stating that

to almighty, the DGP
stressed upon the personnel to prefer public service

proud and we have to keep
it up in the future while
deliverance", he said. He
stressed for transparency
in day-to-day functioning
of police to bring about a
positive change in the public perception about the
force.
R 80 cr released to flood affected
families in Srinagar district

SRINAGAR, JAN 10: To
review the measures undertaken for the rehabilitation
and financial assistance
being made available to the
flood affected families of
district Srinagar, Deputy
Commissioner
Srinagar
convened a meeting of
Revenue officers here
today.
It was given out in the
meeting that about R 80
crore has been released in
favour of the flood affected
families whose houses were
damaged during the recent
floods while R 2.19 crore
has been provided to the
families who are residing in
the rented accommodations.

of
the
Joint
Parliamentary Committee
for settling the West
Pakistan refugees permanently in the J&K as antistate, General Secretary

Sagar today said such recommendations are aimed
at changing the demography of Jammu and
Kashmir.
While addressing the

from District Baramulla
and District Kupwara,
Sagar said that the recommendations
of
Joint
Parliamentary Committee
are unacceptable and a
wicked conspiracy to
tamper the special status
of J&K.
"The joint parliamentary committee's recommendations for the permanent settlement of West
Pakistan refugees in the
state is wicked conspiracy
to change the demography
of the state and to alter the
special status enjoyed by
Jammu and Kashmir
state," Sagar said.
He said the anti-Jammu
and Kashmir elements,
since the day one have
been employing different
tactics to change the
demography of the state
and today they have raked
up such issue again.

things for the state like

projects to J&K, restoration of autonomy, and
revoking the black laws

Commenting on PM's
speech here today, Prof
Singh said, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's 40 minutes
speech he made at Ram Lila
Ground, New Delhi this
afternoon failed to attract any
student or a listener interested in India's State-Centre
relations or foreign affairs.
The Prime Minister limited
himself only to political jargon asking for votes in the
coming Assembly election in

that he is the Prime Minister
of India, the largest democracy in the world, and therefore
the people at home and
abroad expected him to men-
tion latest developments in
Indo-Pak relations and escalation of violence in Europe
threatening peace and tranquility in the world. He

Prof. Bhim Singh reminded Modi that he was Prime
Minister of India representing the entire nation and its

entire France and Europe.
People also expected him to

Harsh hails Governor's Rule, says nonexistent Assembly can't be suspended

Singh while hailing the
imposition of Governor's
rule in the State in view of
stalemate in the formation
of the new government
and total paralysis of the
administrative machinery
during the last two
months has questioned the
proclamation issued by
the Governor placing the
12th legislative Assembly
in suspended animation.
He said that with the 11th
legislative Assembly still
being in existence till the
19th of January 2015,
there was no question of
12th legislative Assembly
coming into being. He
said that Sec 52 of the
state constitution (corresponding provision of the
constitution of India is
Article 83 (2) provides for
duration of the legislative
Assembly. It says that 'the
legislative Assembly shall
continue for six years
from the date appointed
for its first meeting if its
term is not cut short by its
dissolution.
In a press statement
issued here today Harsh
asserted that the first
meeting
of
11th
Legislative
Assembly
having taken place on
19th January 2009, the
said Legislative Assembly
shall remain in existence

Jammu, Shantmanu today invited the general
public for massive participation in the two
days' Lohri Festival on 12th and 13th January,
2015.
While interacting with media persons,
Shantmanu appealed to the masses for maximum participation to make the festival a
grand success. The inaugural ceremony will
be held at Bagh-e-Bahu at 4 p.m. on 12th
January.
The Divisional Commissioner informed
that Band Display by Police and BSF, illumination of Bagh-e-Bahu Garden by Tourism
Department, Illumination of Raghunath Bazar
by various associations, Pujan/Bonfire by
Raghunath Bazar Business Association, cultural programmes based on traditional themes
to showcase Dogra Culture and traditions by
J&K Academy of Art, Culture and
Languages, Food Festival by Hotel
Association/ Private parties and JKTDC will
be the main attractions of the festival.
On 13th January, a procession will be
flagged off from Sabzi Mandi Chowk, Parade
which will culminate at Raghunath Bazar.

JAMMU, JAN 10: Kashmir Displaced
BJP organized a meeting of Workers and
Office Bearers at BJP Office here today. In
the meeting which was presided over by
General Secretary Organization, Ashok Ji
Koul, various issues including the recently
held Assembly Election and problems
being faced by the displaced Community
for the last 25 years were discussed.
Detailed discussion was held on the issue
of M-Forms filled by the Migrants for
polling and it was alleged that there is
every possibility of these M-Forms later
being deleted by the Government
Agencies. Enhancement of Cash Relief
which was not implemented by the State
while fighting the militancy in the State and save
precious human lives and
public property.
During the Darbar, the
DGP heard the jawans
patiently and assured that
their problems would be
looked into at Zonal and
PHQ level. He also issued
on spot directions to IGP
Kashmir Zone and range
DIsG, to redress their
grievances within their
competence. He said the
Department has established a Central Welfare
Fund for the support of
jawans and their families.
For this purpose the
Organization has launched
various welfare schemes.
He said during 2014
more than Rs. 35 core has
been paid under various
welfare schemes to the
families
of
serving,
retired, families of martyrs
personnel and SPOs.

Governor's rule in the
state should be followed
by fresh elections.
Singh further said that
with no government in the
state the administrative
functioning had became
standstill with all developmental related and
allied activities having
came to a grinding halt.
He hoped that with the
state Governor taking
over the reins of government, the Government
business would be revived
and Secretariat and other
offices would be effectively operationalized and
made properly functional
for the benefit of the common masses of the
state.

The DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure that
all the arrangements are put
in place well in time.
Later, the DDC also
chaired another meeting of
the officers of various
departments to review the
arrangements for the celebration of National Voters
Day on 25th of January.
The arrangements being
made by the different
departments like Rural
Development,
Revenue,
Education etc were discussed threadbare. The DDC
directed all the officers pres-
ent to work in coordination.
