However, in order to continue to provide excellent educational programs, and meet the needs of 21st century teaching and learning, the District must face ongoing needs as we plan for the future. Our challenges are three-fold, and include the concern for safety and security, addressing ongoing building conditions, and the need for additional and improved learning space. We also need to provide better and safer outdoor athletic facilities to meet student and community use needs. Therefore, to meet the needs of all Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12 students, ISD #1 is proposing a two (2) question bond referendum to fund projects that will meet our challenges and respond to our facility needs for now and the future. (Please see page 2 for more information.) Page 2 Rippleside Elementary Referendum - Vote January 6, 2015 Please make a commitment to vote on January 6th! After considerable planning and discussion, the Aitkin School Board is proposing a Building Bond Referendum seeking voter authorization of funding for addressing our ongoing facility needs and improving our teaching and learning environments for all District learners. To meet the needs of all Pre-K 12th grade students, ISD 1 is proposing a two-question bond -- Question 1 ($24,200,000) will address the educational space needs, safety and security, and ongoing facility needs at both Rippleside Elementary School and Aitkin High School; and contingent Question 2 ($3,200,000) will provide funding for much needed athletic field improvements to meet district and community needs. *** Please note: Question 1 must pass in order for Question 2 to pass.
