New Journey Weight Loss & Wellness
opened its doors in November 2013.
Dina Dogum-Smith, an Internationally
Certified Health Coach has been helping
South Florida residents lose weight for
nearly 20 years, coaching thousands to
achieve their weight loss goals. New
Journey Weight Loss & Wellness offers a
variety of eating plans that are fast,
easy, safe and sustainable and is one of
the only weight loss centers in the area
to offer weight loss coaching to children
as young as nine. Each eating plan is
certified by our staff dietician and
tailored to clients’ needs.
In 2014, New Journey Weight Loss was
voted the #1 Weight Loss Center in
Southwest Florida by readers of the
Naples Daily News.
With the tick-tock of our clock’s
sweeping hands, 2015 arrived and about
50% of Americans wrote out their New
Year Resolution list. For some the list
will have the same resolutions that were
made the previous year: find a better
job, improve finances, eat healthier and
topping the list nearly every year - lose
weight. Even if you weren’t successful
last year, this year can and will be
different; especially if you select the
right path for your weight loss journey.
What is a New Year’s Resolution?
Typically it is a promise that you make to
yourself to start doing something good
or to stop doing something bad, with
intent to begin on the first day of the
New Year. Many of us see the start of a
new year as an opportunity to start
fresh, to reset our lives, to repent on a
misgiving or to take a new stand.
Initially our resolutions are a tradition, most rooted
with sincerity, determination and a resolute mind-set to
succeed in the new goal. But despite the initial
confidence of success, it sometimes doesn’t take long
for reality to set in. Goals are often overshadowed or
derailed by other priorities, and a lack of direction,
support and accountability.
If one expects to improve finances you need to consult
someone who understands finances and fiscal
maneuvering. To find a better job a recruiter or resume
writer might be enlisted. So it goes without saying that
in order to lose weight you need to seek expert advice
to be successful.
At New Journey Weight Loss & Wellness, we strongly
believe our weight loss model can ensure the success of
your weight loss model can ensure the success of your
weight loss based New Year Resolution and in fact we
can ensure attainment of a weight loss goal at any time
of the year. We even offer guaranteed results on
programs.
Proper Goal Setting
Weight loss goals are more often attained when you
engage in proper goal setting, where small measurable
goals are established; such as, losing 3 pounds a week,
instead of saying "I want to lose weight". At New
Journey Weight Loss & Wellness our Certified Health
Coach and Licensed Dietician work with each person to
achieve the most effective weight loss goals and
timetable. We ensure your goal is attainable, safe and
tied to your lifestyle. Although there are quick fix diets
with pre-packaged meals, prescribed drugs and shots
like HCG available through other businesses, New
Journey Weight Loss & Wellness programs will teach
you how to lose weight while eating restaurant and
grocery store foods; and prepare food at home that any
family member would enjoy. This allows for more
accurate weight loss goal setting and sustained
maintenance once you reach your goal. You can expect
to lose up to 3 to 5 pounds per week on our programs.
Don’t Wait for Motivation
If you wait to get motivated to lose weight, you’ll likely
never succeed in your weight loss resolution. Seek
action now rather than motivation. Once you take that
first step toward fulfilling your weight loss journey, see
those initial few pounds start to fall off and feel the
healthier side of your life begin to take shape, then the
motivation will follow and further inspire you to
success. Call New Journey Weight Loss & Wellness
today to schedule a Free, No-obligation consultation
(239) 280-0678.
Find a Friend
You don’t have to take your new weight loss journey alone.
As part of goal setting, success has been found to be higher
when your goals are made public and you get support from
a friend, family member or trusted weight loss professional.
Quoting Frank Ra (author of the New Year's resolution book
"A Course in Happiness"), he said "Resolutions are more
sustainable when shared, both in terms of with whom you
share the benefits of your resolution and with whom you
share the path of maintaining your resolution. Peer-support
makes a difference in your success rate with New Year's
Resolutions". Involving family members or a close friend in
your weight loss journey will help when it comes to
eliminating temptation and committing to a healthier life
style.
Seek a Qualified Cheerleader
Working with a qualified weight loss professional, such as a
New Journey Weight Loss & Wellness Health Coach, can
provide you the encouragement and cheerleading you
need. Several studies agree that talking with a weight loss
coach about setting goals toward your New Year Resolution
can help you stay on track and have a higher success rate. A
Health Coach can offer inspiration, provide social and
mental guidance, share empathy as you hit challenges,
offer support for occasional slip-ups and cheer you along
with every step. They’ll also be with you to share in the
excitement when you reach your goal weight.
Be Positive
Don’t underestimate the power of small changes-especially
when you stick to them. Remember, every step, no matter
how small in the right direction, without a step backwards
is moving ahead. Seek encouragement through a weight
loss professional, one that will hold you accountable yet
not be involved in every eating decision you make; like a
family member might. You must learn to make eating
choices without immediate oversight for sustainability.
Pictures are Valuable
Ugh, pictures depicting your “before and after” may seem
hokey; but pictures don’t lie. Chances are if you’re in a
quest to lose weight you may not feel great about yourself,
so taking a picture may not be top on your list. But if you’re
serious about this New Year Resolution and succeeding in
your goal, then it’s worth it. Snap a few now, then at
intervals along the way. Not only can you track your
progress by using a food journal you’ll be able to visually
see how far you’ve come. Best of all, when you finally reach
your goal weight you will be glad you to see the overall
change and even identify small facial features and body
changes that would otherwise have been forgotten. It will
be your pictorial journey on the creation of the New You!
Time for a Kitchen Makeover
One of the toughest aspects of weight loss is contending
with temptation. Spend time in your kitchen doing a pantry
makeover. Start by getting rid of as many tempting nonprogram foods as possible, such as cakes, chips, snacks,
sugar drinks, high sodium, and fat-laden, high calorie foods.
It’s hard to cut back on those when they are front and
center in your cabinets. It is easier to eat healthy when
nutritious foods are readily available. Don’t forget that you
can donate your unopened, unwanted foods to a local
shelter.
Keep a Food Journal
Mindful weight loss involves commitment and dedication.
When trying to change behavioral patterns it is best to keep
a journal. This helps for you and others, to analyze your
food consumption and decide where you need to make
adjustments to stay focused and on track. Initial success in
your weight loss can serve to encourage you, but you need
to see your success over time.
Be Prepared with Structured Eating Plans
Weight changes don’t occur through just leafy greens and
proteins. You will have to have variety and exciting foods in
order to sustain weight loss and change eating behaviors
for a lifetime. Structured programs such as those developed
and provided by New Journey Weight Loss & Wellness
provide the variety and stimulating food alternatives that
ensure long-term success. New Journey Weight Loss &
Wellness provides eating plans for adults, children nine
years of age and older, vegetarians and non-insulin
diabetics.
Wait for Your Indulgence
Depriving yourself of every kind of chocolate or sweet treat
can create a mind-set of deprivation, a surefire way for
your New Year Resolution to fail. Finding the right balance
between new eating habits and old ones can be perplexing.
This is where your trained Weight Loss Coach can offer
help. Indulgence with limitations can be an unexpected
reward at the right time. Allowing you great tasting snacks
and flavorful supplements specifically designed to curb
appetites and provide the necessary nutrients is a benefit
of enrolling in a structured program created by New
Journey Weight Loss & Wellness.
