Like Father, Like Son
Japan 2013, 121 min., drama
Director: Hirokazu Koreeda
Japanese with English Subtitles
A thoughtful exploration of the meaning of familial
bonds and paternal intimacy played out in a classic
babies-switched-at-birth plot between two very
different families, each of which must make the
same life-changing decision, but one that brings
about a redemptive transformation.
A masterful combination of both humour and
grief, with charismatic, innocent children pulling us
through an emotional journey from start to finish

Tracks
Australia 2013, 112 min., biography/drama
Director: John Curran
Absorbing, touching and satisfyingly enjoyable ...
— New York Times
The amazing true story of a young woman who
tries to leave everything behind to trek 2700km
across the stunning deserts of Western Australia
accompanied only by her dog, four capricious
camels, and, briefly, an aboriginal elder. At times
she meets up with a photographer for National
Geographic, who, like others, both admires and
is perplexed by her uncompromising pursuit of
personal freedom and self discovery.
The movie does nearly everything right ...
— Chicago Tribune
... you miss Tracks at your aesthetic pleasure peril. It’s
a truly outstanding cinema experience.
