Acting Studies for Children Ages 6 through 12

Elements of Theater
Discovering Drama
For ages 6 – 8
For ages 9 – 12
10:00am – 11:00am
Imagination techniques, pantomiming skills,
theater games, and storytelling exercises will all
be explored in this fun class for kids! Students
will have the opportunity to work with their
scene partners as a team and learn the basics of
theater while expressing themselves in a fun and
supportive environment.
11:15am – 12:30pm
Students will combine scripted work with
improvised scenes while learning how these
techniques can vary. They will explore different
ways to communicate the parts of the story to
the audience while working with partners to
create each scene. Monologue work will also be
explored (no memorization required).
ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR
Kate Starczewski is excited to be back for her fifth season as HMT’s acting instructor. She graduated
from SUNY Geneseo where she was very active in theater and created her production company for
producing her short films. Kate was recently seen on stage as Gretchen in HMT’s Boeing Boeing and
Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. She’s been involved with HMT since 1999 through acting, stage managing,
running crew, scenic and lighting assistant. She also enjoys directing and video production. Kate interned
at the local PBS station, WMHT, as a production assistant on two of their television shows, From Farm to
Table and New York NOW.
Class size limited to 12 students per class
Registrations are accepted in the order in which they are received.
Cancellation Fee: $10 per course up to one week prior to the start of class. After that
point, no refunds will be issued.
All classes will be held at the Spa Little Theater
