Karen Zorn (Goshen College class of 1984) is the President of Longy School of Music, Vice President of Bard College and a founding member of Take A Stand. Zorn is a classically trained musician, educated as a pianist in the United States and Germany. She served as Associate Provost of Berklee College of Music and Executive Director of the MacPhail Center for the Arts in Minneapolis. Elsje Kibler-Vermaas Director, Master of Arts in Teaching Program Longy School of Music of Bard College Elsje Kibler-Vermaas, a pianist and a graduate of the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands, joined Longy School of Music of Bard College in 2011. Previously, she served as the Director of Community Engagement and Education with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, where she founded an El Sistema-inspired orchestra program in partnership with Hartford Public Schools, as a consultant with the Thank you to our partners! Concertgebouw Education Department in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and as the LA Phil’s manager of school programs and interim manager of Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA). Elsje currently oversees the Master of Arts in Teaching program, an El Sistema-inspired degree program launched in 2013 in Los Angeles by Bard College, Longy School of Music of Bard College and the LA Phil. Juan Felipe Molano Professor, Longy School of Music of Bard College Juan Felipe Molano, a graduate of the Vienna Conservatory, was appointed the conductor for the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) in 2014, following an international search audition by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Throughout the course of his career, Molano has led prominent orchestras in Spain, Italy, Norway, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. He served as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra in Mexico from 2003-2008, and then the National Orchestral Director of Batuta Colombian System of Youth Orchestras (El Sistema, Colombia) until 2013. Maestro Molano divides his musical activities between pedagogy, conducting, and consulting. Currently a Professor at the Longy School of Music of Bard College, he has also taught at the Yucatan University of Arts Yucatan (Mexico), National University of Colombia, Ibague Conservatory, Universidad de Antioquia and Eafit University (Colombia).
