Dear Parents / Guardians,
Greetings from Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School!
2.
As we start the New Year and welcome KCPians back to school, I trust that you have
had a blessed time with your loved ones during the school holidays.
3.
First of all, allow me to welcome all our Secondary One parents to the KCPSS family.
I look forward to meeting you on 9 Jan at the Meet-the-parents session (MTPS) for
Secondary One students.
4.
The theme we have chosen for 2015, Seeing Possibilities, Creating Experiences, is a
call to ‘see’ what God is doing, to dream new dreams and to believe that God is able to
‘make a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland’ to fulfil the purpose for which
Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School was established. It challenges the staff and
students to be open to new opportunities for learning and growth, to break from the tried and
tested ways and venture into the new pathways that God is creating for us so that every child
finds joy in learning and in growing to be all that he can be to his community.
5.
I would also like to keep you informed of some key highlights in Term 1.
Temperature Taking Exercise
The temperature taking exercise aims to maintain our preparedness in health-related
matters and is part of our continued efforts in safeguarding the well-being of KCPians. We
seek your assistance to remind your child/ward to bring his/her Oral Digital Thermometers.
The exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, 7 Jan 2015.
6.
KCPSS Cross Country Cum Mass Run @ MacRitchie Reservoir Park
7.

8.
All students are expected to attend the event. Students who are unable to participate
in the run due to medical reason(s) will be given opportunities to contribute to the event in
other ways.
9.

E-Learning on 13 March 2015
10.
KCPians do not need to report to school during the normal curriculum time. Instead,
as part of MOE’s Information Technology Masterplan to promote more engaged and selfdirected learning using ICT, the school will conduct e-Learning for all students from 8.00 am
to 1.00 pm. This will also prepare the school to ensure that teaching and learning can
continue in the unlikely event of an emergency school-closure.
11.
KCPians are required to access the internet using home computers to carry out eLearning tasks set for them on the various school subjects. The school will also be making
available two school computing laboratories so that students who do not have access to
computers/internet at home can carry out the e-Learning in school.
All-Level Camps
12.
The All-Level Camps is a milestone program for all KCPians. Designed to develop
KCPians holistically through experiential learning, the camps for every level are themed to
pace the developmental stages of our students.
13.
Details of the camps will be briefed to all KCPians. The schedule for the All-Level
Camps is:

that together, we can and will provide KCPians with the best possible school experience.
Regards,
Mrs Elsie Rajaratnam
