Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – January 14, 2015 at Aqueduct By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling Hot List Key: A: A preferred horse to watch B: Secondary horse to watch *C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd th *D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4 or worse * - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more. th 4 race – (8) Sylvia T (a B last time) is a dismal 0 for 15, but she had a couple of turf races that are faster than what this crew has run and she has performed well on the inner track. (5) Strum adds blinkers for Pletcher and may move forward when trying the dirt. (1) Majestic Empire may wake up adding blinkers off the debut. (4) Spring Blossom has been away for a while, but Pletcher can have horses ready off a long layoff. th 5 race – (6) Pretenison (D) has scratched several times since his last start which we figure is because of wet tracks. Will be tough to catch if he gets the lead here and only negative is that we prefer to see him sprinting. (7) Abilio has a pair of recent wins against open company and we’ll toss last race due to the sloppy track. (2) Call for the Clock drops to an all-time low for this one. (5) Becker’s Galaxy has shown a little bit of closing ability and offers some value. th 6 race – (1) Non Finisce Mai (A) ran as fast or faster in her debut as any of today’s rivals have run and that came despite getting squeezed at the start and a wide trip thereafter (3) Marc the Sky ran just behind our top pick last time. (8) Moondance Joy was caught very wide last two starts so perhaps the rail post will help the cause. (9) Zippa Tequila is eligible to improve making second career start. th 7 race – (5) Spirit of Peace (B) drops a notch off one of his best efforts which came despite trouble at the start. The question is whether that turf form can transfer to the inner track. (3) Piscesbymoonlight has been improving with every race and drops to an all-time low here. (1a) Distant Thoughts drops to an all-time low and suffered a horrible start last time with a stumble and bump as he left the gate.
