A JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT COMPANY COUNSELED BY KPMG

Sho’TYME
A JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT COMPANY
COUNSELED BY KPMG
SHINES THROUGHOUT THE 2013 - 2014 YEAR
Junior Achievement (“JA”) is a non-profit economic programme for young people. The Company Programme
teaches students in grades 10-12 the basic principles of starting a business and operating under the
guidance of volunteers from the real business world. It is a programme designed to teach the principles of
entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy.
Sho’TYME achievers celebrate their success at JA Day held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Thomas A. Robinson Track & Field Stadium.
A legacy of
commitment &
achievement
KPMG is committed to its community and has been
a corporate sponsor of Junior Achievement for more
than 30 years providing adult volunteer advisors
to deliver the JA curriculum and share business
experience with the achievers of its JA companies.
This year under the theme “35@40: Empowered
to Succeed” the achievers of Sho’TYME elected to
produce products that not only allowed them to
meet their sales goal, but products that also brought
Awareness to breast cancer, included a Bahamian
element and Celebrated both 40 years of Bahamian
independence and 35 years of Junior Achievement in
The Bahamas.
A
lesson in
culture
The achievers started
the year off at JA Day on
November 16th, 2013,
where they showcased
their banner using mainly
Bahamian natural resources
and displaying an old
time Bahamian show. The achievers and advisors
fringed their jeans to showcase their Junkanoo theme
celebrating all things Bahamian. At the end of JA
Day Sho’TYME placed in all categories including
the banner competition, most enthusiastic company,
most enthusiastic advisor and best entrance.
next major event was
And the The
Open House, held on
December 7th, 2013, where
award
the achievers displayed their
products to the Bahamian
goes to... public in Pompey Square.
In keeping with its theme
for the year (i.e. celebrating all things Bahamian),
Sho’TYME designed a Bahamian market place as
their booth exhibition at the Open House. When
it was all said and done, Sho’TYME placed 3rd
at the Open House competition. After successful
completion of the 25 week Company Programme,
the Junior Achievement year ended on Saturday, May
10th, 2014 with its annual awards show, held at the
Atlantis Theatre. We congratulate our achievers and

having their achievers leave the JA program with
not only an unforgettable experience, but with
knowledge of the business industry, and they did
just that. We, the Partners and Staff of KPMG are
proud to congratulate Sho’TYME for its performance
and commitment during the2013-2014 Junior
Achievement Bahamas Company Programme.
Sho’TYME’s overall achievements during the JA year
demonstrated that they were indeed Empowered to
Succeed.
During the awards show the achievers of Sho’TYME used
the opportunity to present its Sho’TYME Cares Award
to Ms. Donica Thurston (second from right), one of the
Center Managers within the JA Company programme.
Although Ms. Thurston was not the Center Manager
assigned to Sho’TYME, the achievers thought it fitting
to find a way to give back as young people. Three (3) of
Sho’TYME’s products included a design that showcased
the JA Theme for the year, the celebration of 40 years
of Bahamian independence as well as a pink awareness
ribbon. The achievers donated 15% of their sales from the
Sho’TYME Cares Awareness products to Ms. Thurston.
