vision2015 ALL INFO, PRICING AND RENDERINGS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. WHERE CRIMSON AND CREAM MEETS LUSH AND GREEN. The Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club is planned and operated to be the home golf course of the University of Oklahoma’s men’s and women’s golf programs, both nationally ranked in the top 10. It will designed and maintained to be a TRUE CHAMPIONSHIP golf course, preparing the teams to compete for Big 12 and NCAA championships. It is considered by most to be a top-5 golf course in the state and ranks as one of the top university-owned golf courses in the country. The golf course will always be maintained in excellent condition for many reasons; but that we are here first and foremost for our golf teams, reinforces the commitment to excellent conditions which greatly benefits our university alumni and club membership. The club is committed to being first and foremost a University Golf Club, catering to the golf teams, alumni, faculty, staff, students and members. Non University related play and activities will always be an important, but after our University community. It is important to recognize the benefits of a great golf course and golf club is to a university, city and state by providing positive recognition, being nationally recognized and hosting national championships. It creates fundraising opportunities, tax revenue to city and state, tourism dollars to local business, improves property values, helps recruit talented professionals and business to an area, and even sometimes might help bring a great college athlete or coach to an already great university. The Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club is one of the greatest assets of the University, as every university college, university department, athletic team, faculty members, students, staff members and such have preferred access to the course and clubhouse. Your donations and support truly help the entire university community. 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship 2009 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship 2013 NCAA Women’s Regional Championship 2013 NCAA Men’s Regional Championship J IMMIE AUSTI N OU GO L F AJGA Sooner Junior Championship - 1997, 2012 2012 OGA Stroke Play Championship Big 12 Women’s Championship - 1998, 2010 C LUB • V IS IO N20 1 5 phase 1 projects • NEW TEAM TRAINING AREA This is to be the premier team training area in the country providing the OU Teams the ability to emulate shots using all 14 clubs in their bag to shots they will need to make in pursuing Championships. There will be multiple bunkers protecting four (4) greens. Each green will be shallow so the golfers improve distance control. Each green will be a different style so the players can get used to different eras and architects better preparing them for the next tournament regardless of where that might be. This is an 11 acre area located directly west of the new entrance drive. This is a game changer for golf teams in terms of recruiting and preparing the athlete for the next level. Naming of this facility is $2.5 Million. • NEW ENTRANCE DRIVE This is necessary first to create the space to develop the team training area but it will also very possibly be the most visable and obvious improvement moving the golf course and club from the municipal image to the image of a great club. While the entrance or curb appeal of club should have little to no impact on a golf experience or golf club reputation, this one will be dramatic. We will moving from a dull drive along a practice range, chain link fencing on one side and 1930 era naval buildings on the other to a winding landscaped drive with the golf course 9th hole on the right and the new team practice facilities on the left. This will create a dramatic entrance to the future cottages and clubhouse. Naming of entrance drive is $1 Million. J IMMIE AUSTI N O U GO L F • NEW PARKING LOT AND ENTRY TO THE CHARLIE COE CENTER The new entry will be located very near the current entrance to the club but will be a circle drive leading into the current team facilities. Landscaping and clock tower in the circle recognizing and thanking long time donor and supporter of the golf programs, Dick Askew. Donations welcome but naming is reserved for Dick Askew. • NEW TEACHING ACADEMY Located on the north end of practice tees, the academy will be for member and club use; however the team will have access when needed as it will be protected from the north wind. It is a two bay practice area including a restroom, offices, and storage. It will be equipped with the best instructional equipment, exercise machines, and video in the industry. Naming of the Teaching Academy is $500,000. • RENOVATIONS TO BISHOP CREEK Bishop Creek is a main artery to the city of Norman and University Campus watershed. It is also a great asset to the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club as it helped create our rolling hills and creates interest within the golf course. There are erosion issues that require addressing as well great opportunities to improve the aesthetics and imagery of the golf course. This particular phase will be addressing North Bishop Creek as it enters our property through to Constitution Drive (hole 12, 1, 18, and 9). The creek will have sections each named for different donors, naming of these sections are $250,000 each (4 opportunities). C LUB • V IS IO N20 1 5 • NEW CLUBHOUSE PARKING LOT The current parking lot only holds 103 vehicles with us regularly parking 20 to 40 cars in the grass overflow lot which will know be part of the team training area (4 hole practice course). This will allow us to create a club like parking area with up to 150 parking spaces, lighting and landscaping creating a parking lot that flows from the new entrance drive and in time with the new clubhouse. • COMPLETE RENOVATIONS OF COE’S CREEK While Coe’s Creek is a great improvement, it did not create the true separation between holes 10 and 11 and the creek has few natural elements. It is a very natural flowing creek that only needs minimal assistants in looking and behaving as such. The renovations will create a clean up pond where the water enters our property from the city park and then becomes a natural setting and aesthetic improvement and critical playing element to the golf course. • ADDITION OF NEW BRIDGE SERVING HOLE 12 Currently hole 12 and hole 18 share a bridge causing congestion and potentially dangerous incidents. The plan is move the path to the North side of number 11 and 12 greens, eliminating the congestion and danger. It is a great opportunity to again improve the club aesthetically as the new bridge will be not only built to handle the golf course equipment but be built to be an asset to the already great golf course. Naming of the new bridge is $250,000. J IMMIE AUSTI N OU GO L F • RENOVATIONS TO HOLES 9, 10, 11 AND 12 The renovations on number 9 are critical to the redesign of our new entrance creating room for the new team practice facilities. Holes 10, 11 and 12 are creating space for eventually the new clubhouse and greatly improving the design of hole 10 by adding 25 yards and putting the water greenside, allowing the long hitter still the option but certainly creating much more risk to offset the reward if successful in driving the green. There will also be much space created in the very busy and overlapping holes of 1, 9, 18 and 12 allowing better gallery viewing for the Championships we host and reducing safety risk. • DEDICATED SPACE FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT Everything already discussed is extremely important for the success of the facility but truly the final piece of the vision is and will be the centerpiece for years to come. All donors, members, faculty, staff, alumni, golf team members, coaches, and community will have the ability to actualy use and enjoy a new clubhouse and cottages. While neither facility is designed yet, both will be designed with excellence in mind, just like everything else at the University of Oklahoma. C LUB • V IS IO N20 1 5 giving opportunities • HOLE SPONSORSHIP — $250,000 All original hole sponsors from 1995 will have the first options to again give the hole they generously gave then. in 1995 the holes were sold at different values but this time each hole will be the same, $250,000. Regardless of the par or length of the hole they all need some work and in several instances the most money will be spent on the shorter holes and while this vision and project does not address every hole, every hole will be updated with new fairway grasses and bunker renovations over the next 5 to 7 years and there will be money set aside to complete this. All gifts in 1995 will continue to be recognized, but we will changing the recognition to two plaques. The first will be the 1995 and the second 2015. • TEAM PRACTICE FACILITY — $2,500,000 Fully recognized throughout the team facilities including signage on Constitution. This facility while first and foremost will be the team facility, it will be available for special junior opportunities including free access to all juniors during set times and days in the summer months for purposes of growing the game and making it accessible to all. • ENTRANCE DRIVE — $1,000,000 The new entrance, as mentioned earlier will be second to few. There will be signage on Constitution Drive and an appreciation/recognition plaque along the drive and walkpath. There are 14 teeing areas located within the team facility. • BENCHES ALONG TEAM FACILITY AND ENTRANCE — $5,000 EACH Benches located near tees and along the walk path on the entrance (10 available). • NEW BRIDGES THROUGHOUT COURSE — $200,000 EACH There are seven bridges on the golf course in need of replacement. Bridges are not only there to assist the golfer in crossing the creeks, but will be built to allow all golf course equipment to cross. Currently the turf care is extremely limited in their ability to get around the golf course and efficiently do their task. The plan is to also build lasting bridges that greatly improve the feel and look of the facility. Founding Members are an essential part of providing the resources necessary to transform the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club into the top University facility in the nation. Coe is widely regarded as one of the top amateur golfers in the history of golf and the society bearing his name has been established to honor his commitment and accomplishments to amateur golf. Coe attended OU from 1946-48 after serving as a pilot during World War II and later became one of the most celebrated amateur golfers in the game’s history. Winner of three-straight Big Seven Conference championships and a pair of U.S. Amateur titles, Coe never turned professional, instead choosing to spend time with his wife and family. Retaining his amateur status did not stop Coe from cementing his legacy amongst golf’s greats, as the Ardmore, Okla., native traveled the country with favorable results against the top professionals of his era. The former Sooner made 19 Masters appearances and still holds or shares most Masters amateur records, including top-10s (three), most cuts made (eight), most rounds played (67) and rounds at par or better (22).
