WORKKEYS TESTING INFORMATION All Mat-Su Construction Academy (MCA) applicants are required to take the WorkKeys test, which earns an Alaska Career Readiness Certificate. This is a skill-based credential that enhances career potential. It shows an employer that you are capable of tasks that are common in today’s workplace. To earn your certificate, you will need to complete the WorkKeys assessment. WorkKeys is a 3-part assessment: Reading for Information; Locating Information; and Applied Mathematics. In order to earn your Career Readiness Certificate, you will need a score of 3 or higher on each section. It is strongly recommended that you practice these tests before you take the WorkKeys assessment. The pre-assessment program is called Career Ready 101 and can be accessed at any Job Center computer or online from home at your convenience. The Job Center staff will give you the website address, your specific username and password needed to log into the program. (You can call any of the job center contacts listed below and ask for this login information over the phone.) The Work Keys tests are timed and proctored, multiple choice, must be taken at a job center computer, and are by appointment ONLY. About one hour is given for each test. A short break will be given in between tests, or you can ask to schedule each test separately.
