50+ WB American Championship Game Recap
Team Victory 12, Boston Wolfpack Baseball 5
Tempe, Az.--Right-hander Greg Bertrand worked seven innings to pick up the win and Pokey
Sanchez and Ken Henry each had three of Team Victory’s 16 hits in Team Victory’s 12-5
victory over Boston Wolfpack Baseball in Friday morning’s title game of the 2014 50-Plus
Wood Bat American division at Tempe’s Diablo Stadium. Team Victory pushed across five
runs in the third of Boston starter Edgardo Mercado. Mercado, a side-armed left-hander, retired the first seven men he faced before Doug Thigpen singled off second baseman Doug
Flutie’s glove and became the first of eight consecutive Team Victory hitters to reach base
safely. Sanchez capped the inning with a line-drive RBI single to right field. Boston touched
Bertrand for three runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth to cut the lead to 8-5, but Team
Victory put the game away with a four-run eighth that Sanchez started with a single.

Recap (continued)
capture the 2014 50 Wood
Central Division in the
title game at Tempe’s
Diablo Stadium. Garcia
was barely tested and
scattered eight hits and
two runs through seven
innings to pick up the win
in unseasonably hot 95degree temperatures under
the blazing Arizona sun.
The win avenged an earlier
defeat to Agua Dulce
earlier in the tournament.
Kevin King, the Rangers’
Most Valuable Player,
opened delivered a one-out
single and came in on
Myers’ two-run single in
the first inning of Reds
starter Jose Magallon. The
Rangers put the game
away with a four-run sixth
highlighted by Don
Walk’s two-run,
bases-loaded double to left
-center field. The win was
the Rangers’ third in seven
years.
