Press Release on 3rd DD Girnar Shiromani Awards-2014 given
away by Governor of Gujarat Shri Om Prakash Kohli
Dear Sir,
We are very thankful to the media who have highlighted press
conference held on 27-08-2014 relating to 3rd DD Girnar Shiromani
Awards-2014.
The Awards were given away on Friday, 29th October in a colourful
ceremony held at Tagore Hall, Paldi, Ahmedabad from 6:30 pm onwards
by Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat Shri Om Prakash Kohli. In his address, he
had admired role of DD as India's Public Service Broadcaster. He had also
admired DD for being a family channel and its role in education,
information and entertainment of public at large. He had admired DD
Girnar's sincere efforts of recognizing personalities of Gujarat State for
contributing in Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram of Indian Culture through
DD Girnar Shiromani Awards, Tejaswini Awards and Krushi Shiromani
Awards. He had congratulated the awardees.
SBI CGM Shri A. N. Appaiah had also graced the occasion. He had
also admired public service broadcaster. Head of Office & DDG (P) Shri
Shivaji Fulsundar and DDG (E) Shri J. K. Chandira had welcomed
Hon'ble Governor and had highlighted DD Girnar's activities. The
awardees had been selected by an Independent Committee of experts.
The list of the selection committee is also attached in the invitation card
of the event. The recording of 3rd DD Girnar Shiromani Awards-014
will be telecast on 14.09.014 during 3.30 pm to 6 pm and on
15.09.014 during 9.10 am to 11.40 am.

DD Girnar further in its effort to reach out to the people is beginning
its terrestrial transmission for three hours in the morning from 6 am to 9
am from 15th September, 2014. Currently the Kendra has terrestrial
transmission from 3 pm to 7 pm. People with antenna can see DD Girnar
channel in Gujarat under this transmission. This will ensure that
Informative, educative and entertainment based Gujarati programmes will
now be available to larger group of people for three more hours daily.
Further to attract young people to Doordarshan, DD Girnar has
made an effort to reach out to them through social media. A Refurbished
website of DD Girnar was launched on 15thAugust, 2014, that is available
at the URL http://www.ddgirnar.com. The website has updated
Programme and News content. In order to make our programme and
News more interesting, DD Girnar is also seeking suggestions from
viewers on two email ids [email protected] ( for
Programme ) and [email protected] ( for News ). DD
Girnar has also linked its social media tools on its website. DD Girnar’s
twitter account has tweet handle @ddgirnarlive and its Youtube
channel is ddgirnarofficial.
