2. Adding an IZON Camera to Your Network
A. Adding a New Camera Using a QR Code
1. In the “My Cameras” screen, touch the Add Camera icon in the active
window.
2. Two different Izon models will appear on the screen. Select either Izon View
or Izon to match the camera you will add to your account.
•
Please Note: At this point your camera should be plugged in. please wait until
the LED on the front of the camera begins to blink. This may take up to 90
seconds. Look at the front of the camera. If the LED is flashing
orange/green/orange/green, then select “Manual Set-up” and skip
ahead to point 6c
3. Selecting your camera will prompt the app to suggest connecting to the
same Wi-Fi network your iOS device is using.
To choose a different network, touch "Choose A Different Network" or "Manual
Setup" for instructions.
4. Press "Continue" and enter the Wi-Fi network's password. Make sure this is

code to your IZON camera. For best results, hold your iOS device parallel to
IZON about 7"- 10” away.
6. Once Izon reads the code, the LED light will go from blinking orange (the
blinking pattern for a 2.0 camera) or a blinking orange/orange/green/green
(the blinking pattern for an IZON VIEW), depending on your camera, to a
blinking GREEN. At this point, the camera will begin to communicate with our
server for up to 5 minutes. You do not have to point the camera at your iOS
device any longer. You will know when this process is complete when the App
changes to the following screen.

And then to this.
B. If the QR Code Doesn't Scan Correctly…
Try the following troubleshooting options:
•
Distance - Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is about 7”-10” inches
away from your IZON and that it's directly facing the camera. Moving the
camera back and forth slowly in front of the camera can also help.
•
Glare - Adjust the position and angle of both IZON and your iOS device to
avoid any reflections or glare.
•
Reset IZON - If repeating this sequence still doesn't work, reset your IZON
camera and try again.
o
To reset your IZON, insert a straightened paper clip in the small pinhole
on the back of IZON, just above the where the cable connects.
WARNING: Never insert anything into the front of the IZON camera. That front
pinhole is the microphone - inserting anything there may damage IZON and
void your warranty.
o
o
o
After feeling a soft "click", push and hold the paperclip until the IZON
LED light turns off for a split second and then begins flashing
orange/green.
Release the paperclip. The LED will turn to solid orange for a few
minutes while IZON restarts and then starts blinking again.
After scanning the QR Code, activation should take about 2-5 minutes.
Any longer may mean that your Wi-Fi password was incorrect, or that
your network may not be fully compatible with IZON.
*If you continue having trouble using the QR code, touch the “?” icon and call
1-800-704-7186 or email [email protected] for assistance. We’ll
respond as soon as we can within normal operating hours 7am-7am MST,

C. Adding an IZON Manually Using Manual Setup
1. In the “My Cameras” screen, touch the Add Camera icon in the active
window.
2. Two different Izon models will appear on the screen. Select either Izon View
or Izon to match the camera you will add to your account.
3. Select your IZON. Then, it will instruct you to go to the Settings on your iOS
device. When in settings, click on Wifi, and join the STEM network. This pairs
your iOS device with the IZON for setup. Once there is a checkmark by the
STEM network, return
to the app and wait for the app to find your IZON, and then select your IZON.
4. Once your iOS device joins the STEM network and locates your IZON, you'll
see a still image of the camera's view. Touch the image to bring up a list of
networks that IZON recognizes. Please note: Only 2.4GHz networks will
display in this view.
5. Choose your main network and enter its password on the next screen. Make
sure the password is typed correctly in both boxes. Touch "Save".
6. You will then be instructed to leave the app and have your iOS device rejoin
your main Wi-Fi network. After you rejoin your network, return to the app.
IZON will join your home network and register with the server and be available
for use in just a few minutes. You should see a progress bar as this process
takes place.
7. If more than 10 minutes passes and IZON video is not available to you, your
Wi-Fi network password could be incorrect, or your network may not be fully
compatible with IZON.
TIP: Fixing It - If Your iOS Device Can't Find the STEM Network or IZON
a) Return to your iOS device Settings. For Wi-Fi, set it to OFF; then move
it back to ON. Select the STEM network again and return to the app.
b) If turning Wi-Fi on/off doesn't fix the problem, return to your iOS
device Settings and set Airplane Mode to ON. Then, set Wi-Fi to ON. This
will eliminate interference from your 3G signal. Return to the app and see
if this has resolved the issue.
c) If the above steps don't work, you may need to reset your IZON and
try again:
We’ll
respond as soon as we can within normal operating hours 7am-7am MST,
Monday-Friday.

3. Making IZON Work with Your Wi-Fi Network
A. Wi-Fi Network Names and Passwords
IZON Cameras with a blinking pattern of orange/green can only join Wi-Fi
networks with names and passwords containing ONLY letters and numbers. If
your network's name or password uses any special characters, you have two
options for getting IZON to join it:
•
•
Change your network's name and/or password so there are no special
characters. Then reset and reinstall the IZON.
Update your IZON to firmware version 3.0.6:
o
Temporarily add the IZON to a different Wi-Fi network (maybe a
friend or family member) whose name and password don't have
special characters.
o
As part of this process, you will be prompted to update the
firmware for the IZON .
o
When you’ve updated the firmware, delete the camera from that
network. You can then proceed to install the camera on the
network with special characters.
B. Signal Strength
If you have multiple Wi-Fi networks where you're installing IZON, choose the
one with the strongest signal (an 802.11n network is best). Make sure your
network is discoverable by IZON and not hidden or "closed".
C. Security Settings
Wi-Fi networks configured with WEP security settings may not be compatible
with IZON 1.x. If possible, we recommend that your network be configured
with WPA2 security settings to set up your IZON. IZON 1.x is compatible with
certain configurations of WEP networks:
o
64 bits (10 hex digits or 5 ASCII) – also called WEP 40bit (10 hex
digits = 40 bits)
o
128 bits (26 hex digits or 13 ASCII) – this is also called WEP 104bit
(26 hex digits = 104 bits)
If you can configure your WEP network as shown above, you should be able to
have IZON 1.x join your network successfully.
D. Firewalls
If you're having trouble registering your IZON, try disabling any active firewalls
during setup. After IZON has joined your local network, simply enable the
firewall again. Please note that a firewall may prevent remote access to the
IZON video stream.

The IZON LED turns solid orange as it restarts, then blinks green as it
establishes communication. Finally, the LED turns solid green and you'll see
IZON appear in a new view within the app. This process should take 2 to 5
minutes. Network traffic and bandwidth can slow this down. (Learn how to
optimize your network at steminnovation.com/networks.)
Placement and Connection
Now that IZON is active on your network, it's time to choose a location using
it.
Make sure IZON can reach a power outlet without using any power extension
cords. Place IZON on a horizontal surface or, if mounting on a wall or ceiling,
use the included screws and wall anchors to attach the camera securely.
If you camera periodically flashes green AFTER set up, you may have placed
your IZON to far away from the Wi-Fi source or have network congestion
caused by other devices being on the same network.
WARNING: STRANGULATION HAZARD.
Children can be STRANGLED if tangled in cords. Keep children at least 3' away
from all cords. Do not use with an extension cord.

B. Alerts View
The IZON doesn’t record continuously, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t
detect motion or noise. You can use the IZON app to keep a record of motion
or sound occurring. It can also notify you or record clips of the events. To see
this view, swipe to the left when on the ‘My Camera’ view.
Alerts Tab
If you set your IZON to alert you when it detects motion or noise, they will
show up on the alerts tab. Each alert lists the Name of the selected IZON, the
date and time of the event, and the type of alert (Sound or Motion, as
indicated by the icon).
You have 25 FREE videos in a 24-hour period of time. If you find that you are
receiving too many alerts or exceeding the FREE 25-video-a-day limit, try
adjusting the sensitivity slider for noise or motion. This will generate fewer
alerts or video each day. You can also turn the noise and motion detection off
when you’re at home and turn them on when you’re sleeping or away from the
house. This has proven a helpful option for several of our customers who have
received several alerts.
You can store up to 100 Events that are stored on the STEM Cloud. The
events will be stored on the STEM Cloud. Play the video by pressing the green
arrow playback button in the app.
The alerts will expire in 100 hours and will be deleted from the STEM Cloud
unless the padlock icon is pressed and turns green.
To delete a single alert video, swipe the alert with your finger and a small red
X will appear. Tap the red X and the video alert will be deleted. To delete all
of the alerts that are NOT padlocked, just press the ‘Delete All’ link. To
acknowledge that you have read the alerts, just hit the ‘Read All’ link and the
alerts will be marked as read.

sure you would like to delete it. Press Yes in the dialog box and it will delete
the camera from the account.
C. Moving IZON or Changing Networks
To move your IZON from one location to another within your local Wi-Fi
network, simply unplug the IZON, and move it to the new location and plug it
in.
Consult the manual to learn more about your wireless router range and signal
strength and position IZON within its effective wireless range. If the IZON is
constantly blinking green and you lose feed you may be too far away from the
Wi-Fi signal.
If you wish to move IZON to a completely different Wi-Fi network or locale
(from home to office for example), you must first remove the IZON from the
account, described above. After removing the camera, repeat the process
for Adding an IZON Camera to Your Network.
