Business Development Manager – Elastomers

Bluestar Silicones USA Corp. is a growing silicones chemical manufacturer with North American
headquarters based in New Jersey and a plant in York, South Carolina. Our products are sold to
numerous industries including personal care, aerospace, textiles, industrial coatings, healthcare,
automotives and more.
We are looking for a solutions-oriented, driven individual to be Business Development Manager for our
silicone elastomer products. This position will work from a home office location, preferably located in
Chicago, Minneapolis, the Northeast or California.
The primary responsibility of this position is to develop new silicone elastomer opportunities to contribute
to the near- and long-term growth and profitability of Bluestar Silicones. This position primarily will be
focused on elastomers for the healthcare and electronics market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Develop new silicone elastomer business in North America:
o Identify, lead and develop new sales opportunities, working in partnership with local sales
representatives;
o Achieve specification of Bluestar Silicones’ materials on product drawings at OEMs;
o Identify and develop new market opportunities and product applications;
o Develop partnerships (customer, channel, related technologies) to further the business
objectives of the organization.
 Understand market trends and unmet needs and translate them into new opportunities for
business growth.
 Develop brand awareness with OEMs in North America through direct customer contact and
relationship building, and participation in trade shows and conferences.
 Drive product development, innovation and marketing programs and capital investments to
contribute to elastomers business growth.
 Lead internal projects and teams to deliver new silicone elastomer solutions to the marketplace.
Qualities of a successful candidate include a high degree of understanding of specification sales, a strong
understanding of customer needs as well as our industrial capabilities and product strengths. An ability to
conduct analysis of potential customers and our current and future product offering will be essential for
choosing the right targets to ensure success. Experience interfacing with OEM’s and interacting with both
business and engineering contacts is desired.
Both initiative and customer service orientation are indispensable, while a strong sense of team work at
the local and global level is required to be effective. The ability to create contacts and secure
relationships with direct customers is a key success factor in this position.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, engineering or related field










Approximately 5-10 years of business development in the silicones arena or related field experience.
Experience in healthcare, electronics and other elastomer market applications is a plus. Medical
device knowledge and experience is a plus.
Ability to understand customers’ technical requirements and match to a Bluestar Silicones existing
solution or direct the development of a solution to meet needs if business case supports.
Proven verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact amongst various levels and functions within an
organization, both domestically and internationally.
Expertise in team project management.
Inquisitive nature, motivated by problem solving in order to deliver customer needs and identify new
business opportunities.
Ability to analyze business opportunities for their impact on overall profitability.
PC skills, knowledge of MS Office package, CRM tools
Basic knowledge of financial processes.
Able to travel (approx. 40-50%)
