Special “Treating slurry and digester residues”

EuroTier 2014/EnergyDecentral 2014
Special
“Treating slurry and digester
residues”
Background
Both intensive animal husbandry and biogas production generate substantial quantities of
residual materials. If the quantities are so great that these residues can no longer be spread
nearby as organic fertilizer, selling and disposing of slurry/digester residues become a key
issue in operational performance.
Against this background DLG in cooperation with BFL is planning a competition-neutral
Special “Treating and using slurry and digester residues” as a highlight at EuroTier 2014/
EnergyDecentral 2014. The Special offers participating firms a platform for presenting
themselves to the expert public as technology and/or expertise providers in an attractive
environment.
The value of the Special lies in particular in:
• communicating the importance of the topic nationally and internationally as a part of
EuroTier/EnergyDecentral in the run-up to the exhibition,
• communicating professionally correct and forward-looking content to the visitors at
both trade fairs with attractive practical demonstrations.
Idea
Especially in relatively large animal production units and biogas plants, the digester
residues/slurry quantities produced pose problems not only as regards storage and logistics,
but also with respect to regional nutrient surpluses. The essential goals of preparation are
therefore:
- to reduce the quantities to be spread,
- to reduce the costs of storage and spreading,
- to separate out nutrients and convert them into transportable and saleable forms,
- to reduce the burden on the environment.
The Special will show model process chains for preparing and using slurry and waste
residues in live demonstrations:
-
-
-
-
Mechanical separation of the solid and liquid phases:
separators
decanters
extruders
Drying of the solid phase:
belt dryers
drum dryers
feed-and-turn dryers
Pelletizing/compaction:
pellet presses
extruders
Vaporizing the liquid phase:
vaporizers
Waste water treatment methods:
microfiltration
ultrafiltration
reverse osmosis
purification plants
The live demonstrations will take place four times a day with a professional commentary.
The Special will address visitors to both EuroTier and EnergyDecentral. It will provide them
with a good overview of the technologies available today and their potential uses. Ultimately,
this information will be channelled into the decisions taken by expert visitors ready to invest.
In addition, there will be flanking lectures on this theme every day in the “Decentralized
Energy Supply” forum.
The Special is a collaborative effort of the companies participating, DLG and BFL.
Concept
The organizer of the Special “Heat-use concepts”, “Treating slurry and digester residues” are
DLG and BFL.
Content
The following process steps will be shown:
Mechanical separation of
solid and liquid phase
Drying
Compaction/pelletizing
Vaporizing
Waste water treatment
The contents and the way in which they are presented will be coordinated with all the
registered participating firms in a completely transparent fashion. Generally one to two
preparatory meetings will be required for this.
Stand positioning
The Special will be located in the open air section north of Hall 27.
Discussion forum
The demonstrations in the open air will be complemented daily at the
EuroTier/EnergyDecentral forums by lectures on theme-specific issues.
Marketing
DLG/BFL together with the participating firms will draw up a communication concept in which
measures to publicize and promote the Special among expert visitors from home and abroad
via technical articles, advertisements, mailings etc. will be planned.
Stand concept
DLG and BFL are responsible for the overall concept, stand construction and looking after
the stand.
The planning and positioning of the process chains will be carried out in close consultation
with the participating firms.
The participating firms are responsible for assembling, operating and dismantling the
admitted exhibits. The exhibits are to be provided with explanatory texts. The participating
firms are responsible for the content of their statements. They can refer visitors to their own
exhibition stand.
Pure company advertising or statements regarding the competition are not allowed.
Each participating company can provide their own advisory staff. If the consultancy
discussions at the Special lead to concrete negotiations, these are to be continued on the
company’s own stand in order to maintain the neutrality of the Special.
All marketing measures will draw attention to the participating firms in appropriate form.
The decision on admission of firms and/or exhibits rests with DLG.
The Technical Guidelines of the Exhibition Regulations for EuroTier /EnergyDecentral 2014
apply for the Special.
Demonstrations/Moderation/ Safety
There will be four demonstrations presented by a moderator every day at 10.00 h, 12.00 h,
14.00 h and 16.00 h.
The demonstrations will be moderated by DLG or experts engaged by DLG.
For safety reasons parts of the Special area will be barred off for visitors as required during
demonstration periods. Otherwise, consultancy and advisory discussions between company
representatives and interested visitors at the exhibits are possible and desirable at any time.
Terms and conditions
As a matter of principle only exhibitors at EuroTier /EnergyDecentral 2014 can participate in
the Special.
Applications to participate in the Special must be made on a separate registration form. This
is to be submitted by the respective company in addition to the application for its own
company stand.
The costs of participating in the Special are 110.- Euro/m² occupied space.
The occupied space is defined as the area actually occupied by the exhibit plus a
1.0 m wide strip around the exhibit.
The minimum participation fee is Euro 1,650.--.
The fee includes:
• Stand:
- concept
- stand area
- stand construction
- stand lighting
- staff container
• Preparation and return of the required quantity of slurry and digester residues
• Moderating/flanking support by DLG staff
• One staff season ticket per 10 m² occupied space
• Media entry
• Cleaning of the area
• Marketing and press work
The participating firms are responsible for and bear the costs of:
• delivery and collection of the exhibits
• assembly and dismantling of the exhibits
• connection of their own installations and use of: electricity, water
• their own stand staff
• labelling of the exhibits
If you are interested in this package and would like to take part in the Special
“Treating slurry and digester residues”, please register bindingly using the attached
registration form and send it to DLG by 30.04.2014.
