BRG Update: 2014 Heating and Ventilation Reports

Systemair Acquires Airwell
FRANCE: Systemair AB (NASDAQ OMX Stockholm: SYSR), has signed an agreement to take over the assets of
Airwell in France, a manufacturer of air conditioning products for the commercial market. Access will take place
on July 16.
The acquisition was made for €42.5 million, €14.5 million more than was offered by
the Algerian company Cevital. Cata pledged to cover all the bankrupt divisions of
the Basque cooperative and agreed to create 705 direct jobs in the Basque
country as well as ensuring the continuity of the brand names Fagot, Edesa,
Aspes and splendid.
Swegon Acquires P. Lemmens
BELGIUM: Swegon is claiming European market leadership in compact air
handlers following its acquisition of Belgian company P Lemmens.
Formed in 1977 with headquarters in Gembloux, P Lemmens’ produces fans,
air curtains and heat recovery products but its largest product area is compact
air handling units with built-in controls. The company reported a turnover of
€26m in 2013 and has 59 staff.
Welcoming P Lemmens into the Swegon group, Hannu Saastamoinen, Swegon’s ceo said: “This acquisition
makes Swegon the clear market leader in compact air handling units in Europe. With their strong product range
Lemmens will complement Swegon’s well-known Gold air handling unit range extremely well when it comes to
lower air volumes. Through this acquisition we also continue to strengthen our market position in continental
Europe.”
New Standards for Ground Source Heat Pump Pipes
SWEDEN: The SVEP (Swedish Heat Pump Association) announced on the 1st September that new standards
will be introduced for the manufacture of pipes used with ground source heat pumps.
New stringer regulations will be applied at the manufacturing and installation stage of ground source heat pump
pipes to ensure a higher level of efficiency. The regulation will be known as the “P Label”.
New Boiler Replacement Plan in Madrid
SPAIN: The 7th edition of the “Plan Renove de Calderas de Madrid” (Madrid’s
boiler replacement plan) has been approved by the Spanish government. The
plan aims to replace old boilers in the city of Madrid to increase the energy
efficiency and safety of households. The scheme will provide subsidies up to
€150 on the purchase of individual boilers, limited to 30% of the price of the
initial investment. This subsidy will be available from the 1st of September till
the 31st of December, limited to investments under €600,000 .
HHIC to Partner With H&V News Awards
UK: The Heating and Hotwater Industry Council is set to partner the 2015 Heating and Ventilation News Awards.
The H&V News Awards are the longest running and largest awards for the building services industry and this
year celebrate their 21st anniversary.
Entries are open across 17 categories offering something for the largest multinational to smallest sole trader.
Submissions once made are assessed by a panel of industry experts, with the winners announced on 16th April
at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. Nominations are currently open, with the closing date Friday 7th
November.
NIBE Receives Antitrust Approval for the Acquisition of WaterFurnace
SWEDEN: WaterFurnace Renewable Energy and NIBE Industrier of
Sweden have entered into an arrangement pursuant to which NIBE,
through its wholly-owned subsidiary, NIBE Energy Systems Canada
Corp. will acquire 100% of the outstanding common shares of
WaterFurnace. The consummation of the transaction contemplated
by the Arrangement Agreement was conditioned upon the parties
filing required information to the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust
Improvements Act of 1976.
