The Belleville Theatre Guild
Announcing Our 2014-2015 Season
The Belleville Theatre Guild welcomes you to our new season! Whether you are
a returning subscriber or a first-time visitor to our stage, you are sure to enjoy
our play selections this year. Under a theme of Imagination and Mystery, we
open with an Agatha Christie murder, followed by a Christmas classic for the
whole family, a ghostly thriller, and a Neil Simon comedy. Wrapping up the season is the popular and hilarious Canadian musical, The Drowsy Chaperone.
Please consider becoming part of our energetic and imaginative team with a BTG membership. Whatever your talent, we encourage participation at all levels both on stage and behind the scenes. We
hope you will consider purchasing a season subscription and spreading the word about our exciting line up among your friends and family. As an alternative to evening shows, we will continue to offer our popular Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m., and every performance will also include a 50/50 draw.
Thank you for supporting live theatre in the Quinte Region. See you at the Open House, and enjoy the season!

Synopsis
Ten people receive a weekend invitation to a remote
and isolated island. Soon, only nine of them are left
alive. Within a day, there are only eight. A sinister
pattern is emerging and the guests have yet to
meet their host. They realize they have all been
lured to the island and are in serious danger. So
they must determine who the killer is and where he
or she might be hiding. This classic Agatha Christie
mystery will keep you guessing right until the
curtain closes.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

adapted by Christopher Schario

Preview: Nov. 25
Directed by Dave Henderson
Synopsis
This adaptation of the beloved holiday classic simply
and charmingly tells a story of the redemption of a
human soul. Through the fresh eyes of a child discovering the story for the first time, the play follows the
journey of the lonely miser, Scrooge, who, with the
help of spirits and visions from his past, present and
future, receives a second chance at becoming a loving,
generous human being. Focusing on Dickens’ glorious
language, and accompanied by traditional carols, music, and roles for all ages, this is a production which
the whole family will enjoy.

adapted by Stephen Mallatratt
February 5 - 21, 2015
Preview: February 3
Directed by Diane Burley
Synopsis
When horror movies, TV vampires and special effects
give you nightmares … let us scare you with an
old–fashioned ghost story. The Woman in Black …
just a simple tale of a man who cannot forget what
he has seen. He tries to rid himself of these terrors
and finds an unusual healer, an actor, who will help
him relive the events and in a kind of exorcism purge
the memories which haunt him. We’ll pull you with
words into the unknown. We’ll unleash a macabre
wave of events to set your heart pounding until the
final, chilling twist. A few actors, a simple set, and
the magic of theatre.

JAKE’S WOMEN
by Neil Simon
April 9 - 25 , 2015
Preview: April 7
Directed by Phil Bowerman
Synopsis
Imagine, if you will, a world controlled by your
imagination! Jake, a novelist who is more successful
with fiction than with reality, lives in such a place,
as he faces a marital crisis by daydreaming about the
women in his life. The wildly comic and sometimes
moving flashbacks played in his mind are interrupted
by visitations from actual females. America’s premier
comic playwright makes another hilarious foray into
the world of modern relationships. Come visit his
world yourself and meet Jake’s Women.

Chaperone
Directed by Moira Nickander-Forrester
Synopsis
In this parody of musical comedy, a middle-aged
self-proclaimed aficionado of musical theatre begins
playing the record of his favourite Broadway show,
the (fictional) 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone. As he
wryly comments on the music, story, and actors, the
show comes to life on stage. The characters burst
into in his dingy apartment as it is transformed into
an impressive Broadway set with seashell footlights,
sparkling furniture, painted backdrops, and glitzy
costumes. This hilarious Tony Award-winning Canadian musical comedy is sure to be a hit with theatre
fans of all ages.
