Lazaroski Director of Meetings & Education Catholic Cemetery Conference 315.696.5919 2014 Newark Convention Program Catholic Cemetery Conference 65th Annual Convention & Exposition Secaucus (Newark), New Jersey September 30, - October 3, 2014 Meadowlands Exposition Center Through God's Grace, We are a Beacon of Christ’s Light In our fast paced world there are a myriad of challenges facing God’s people. We are mobile, hurried, pressed for time. There are a multitude of choices for our time, our money, and our attention. We want instant entertainment and instant answers. We find ourselves drawn to the wonders of our age and occasionally find ourselves focused solely there. All of this influences the choices we make. When confronted by death, our culture expects easy and quick direction. With increasing numbers of Catholics choosing cremation, what choices will they make and why? Where will they turn? While our culture offers many expedient options, as Catholic cemeterians we know that the human person is called to more – a relationship with Jesus Christ, the Community of the Faithful, and the Communion of Saints. We, as Catholic cemeterians, are in the best position to witness Gospel values, encourage the use of the Catholic Funeral Rites, and provide sacred burial for the faithful departed. We have been called; we have been chosen to bring Christ’s light into our world today. Over the years, the light of the Statue of Liberty’s torch has greeted millions of people as they journeyed to New Jersey’s Ellis Island. With them they brought their hopes and dreams in the pursuit of a better life. This year we cemeterians also journey to the great state of New Jersey with our hopes and dreams in the pursuit of improving our cemetery ministries. Through God’s grace we are a beacon of Christ’s light, shining forth brightly – A Beacon of Perpetual Light. Monday, September 29, 2014 Golf – Francis A.
