Mission
Arts Alive, Inc. is an organization devoted to promoting and stimulating an awareness and love of the arts. Arts Alive, Inc. intends to
achieve this goal by instituting, funding, supporting and administering arts programs for all ages.
How We Serve Your Community
Incorporated in June 2003, Arts Alive, Inc. provides art programming
for the citizens of the town ofWest Point and the counties of King
William, New Kent, and King and Queen. The local governments of
these communities support Arts Alive, Inc. with contributions
matched by theVirginia Commission for the Arts grants. The Olsson
family continues to make major contributions to the local community
and to Arts Alive through the Elis Olsson Memorial Foundation as
well as the Robinson family. Local businesses and individual contributors also support Arts Alive.
Governed by a 15 member Board of Directors, supported by committees, and staffed by a part-time coordinator, Arts Alive, Inc. presents a
season series of performances throughout the year in theW.T.
Robinson/Sture G. Olsson Auditorium and Fine Arts Center located
on theWest Point Schools campus. Two summer camps are offered
each year, the Summer Arts Camp at the end of June, and the
Missoula Drama Camp the first full week of August. The week long
Summer Arts Camp offers classes in visual arts, music, dance,
computer arts, photography, and more. All classes are taught by local
artists and art teachers. At the Missoula Drama Camp, campers
rehearse all week on a play which is presented twice at the end of the
week. Campers also enjoy participating in workshops when they
aren’t in rehearsals. Other programming such as community shows,
free concerts, fundraisers, and cultural arts performances at local
schools are also offered on a less frequent basis.
TheVisual Arts Committee presents art exhibits in the exhibition
space in the Robinson/Olsson Auditorium that coincide with
performances. They also conduct art workshops in the area. If you
are interested in exhibiting your artwork or attending a workshop,
please contact co-chairs Gail Nichols at [email protected] or
804-843-4418, or JeanetteWagner at [email protected] or
804-994-9668.

Previously known as “The Cumberland Collective,” Good Company has been making waves
across the Southeast and on Music Row in Nashville. Their new production, “Under the
Influence of Great American Music,” explores the music that has inspired their own individual
sound and approach. Audiences won't just watch Good Company, they’ll experience it. This
incredible outfit exhibits the essence of Nashville's songwriting sensibility, the joy of youthful
Rock and Roll passion, and the exuberant spirit of Gospel-inspired sweet Southern Soul. More
than a band name, Good Company encapsulates the belief that music can be the common bond
that brings individuals together in grace, understanding and appreciation.
