ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE REPORT TO THE 2014

ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE REPORT
TO
THE 2014 ANNUAL COMFERENCE
The annual report from the Accreditation committee is presented to the 2014 Annual Conference for
review and consideration.
The Accreditation Committee was established as a direct result of the recommendations regarding the
OMHRA committee structure that stemmed from the OMHRA Board’s review of the current strategic
plan in the winter of 2010. Accreditation had previously been part of the Education Committee’s
mandate. The Board established a separate Committee in order to effectively and actively promote,
manage and support the accreditation process for OMHRA members.
The Accreditation Committee consists of the Chair and three associate members of OMHRA – Andrea
Lawson, Ray Callery and Irene McClymont. The general functions of the Committee are to provide a
liaison with the Ontario Municipal Management Institute through participation on the OMMI Policy and
Accreditation (P & A) Committee, to make recommendations to the OMHRA Board regarding OMMI
Certified Municipal Management HR designation applications and improvements to the qualification
process, to organize and present information to OMHRA members regarding HR enhancement and
application process, to liaise with OMMI regarding CMM point values for OMHRA educational activities,
and to develop strategies to market enhancements to OMHRA members.
The Accreditation Chair and the Executive Director of OMMI have continued the partnership to have
formal designations for those members responsible for Human Resource functions in local government.
The designations are as follows:
•
•
•
•
•
•
CMM HR Specialist
CMM I HR Specialist
CMM II HR Specialist
CMM III HR Specialist
CMM II HR Professional
CMM III HR Professional
In order to qualify to use the designation, members must apply and be certified in the disciplines of
Human Resources by an accreditation committee from OMHRA and OMMI.
The Accreditation Committee reviewed 13 applicant’s supporting documentation for the 2013-2014
period since the Fall Conference last year, and has awarded the following:

careers.
