OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this 4-day Workshop, participants will be
able to:
This 3-day course prepares participants to take the national
coding certification exam offered by the American Academy
of Professional Coders (AAPC). The following information
is covered: 1) CPT, 2) ICD-9, and 3) HCPCS coding. This
course will also include an I-10 overview. It will offer 24 hours
of AAPC CEUs. **CLASS SIZE is LIMITED; Register early.**
• Be prepared to take the AAPC – CPC examination
Course material covered includes coding for Anesthesia,
Evaluation, Management, Orthopedics, Cardiology,
R e s p i r a t o r y, R a d i o l o g y, I n t e g u m e n t a r y, D i g e s t i v e ,
Reproductive, Nervous system; ICD-9; HCPCS and Q&A
with sample test questions. Participants will be provided
with a coding workbook and are prepared to take the AAPC
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam.
• Ensure proper coding for your surgery, radiology,
pathology, and medicine services
*Note: Participants must bring the following 3 books to the
course: 2014 AMA CPT Professional (not the CPT Expert or
Standard book), a 2014 ICD-9 Manual and a 2014 HCPCS
manual.
Optional National Certification Examination CPC Testing is
then available on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at MAHEC
via the Hendersonville AAPC chapter. This exam is available
to those who are AAPC members (www.aapc.com), have
registered for the exam with the AAPC by November 22, 2014
and paid the $300 exam fee to the AAPC. (The Hendersonville
Chapter of the AAPC will offer the exam on 12.13.14 at
MAHEC; Exam Index #82817-E141696.)

ease of understanding and selection of modifiers
• Code and audit surgical notes more effectively
• Discuss the correct coding principles for all specialties
Faculty
Steven Allen Adams, MCS, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-I, PCS,
FCS, COA is a Certified Professional Coder for both office
(CPC, PCS) and hospitals (CPC-H, FCS) with more than 20
years experience in military, multi-specialty, hospital, and the
private sector practice of medicine. He has both training and
knowledge as a technician, educator, lecturer, and medical
group practice manager. His experience includes the evaluation
of managed care agreements, fee schedule development, and
the implementation of policies to optimize compliance and
medical insurance reimbursement. Steve currently holds the
position of Senior Consultant for InGauge Healthcare Solutions.
He is a licensed CPC instructor for the AAPC and an AAPCcredentialed proctor of the CPC exam.

CREDIT
This program has the prior approval of the American Academy
of Professional Coders (AAPC) for up to 8 continuing education
hours per day: 24 hours for completion of entire course. AAPC
CEU certificates will be issued by instructor.
CEUs: MAHEC designates this continuing education activity as
meeting the criteria for 2.4 CEUs as established by the National
Task Force on the Continuing Education Unit. You must attend
the entire workshop to receive CEUs. 24.0 contact hours.

Early registration fee is $695.00 for billing supervisors and
medical coders and $625.00 for MAHEC rec practices.
December 8-10, 2014
Registration fee includes administrative costs, educational
materials and continental breakfast at check-in. If registration is
received after the deadline, the total fee will be the registration
fee + $15.00.

Cancellations received at least two weeks in advance of the
program date will receive a full refund unless otherwise noted.
Cancellations received between two weeks and up to 48 hours
prior to the program date will receive a 70% refund unless otherwise noted. No refunds will be given for cancellations received
less than 48 hours prior to the program date. All cancellations
must be made in writing (fax, mail, or email). Substitutes can be
accommodated in advance of the program.

MAHEC has a pay-up-front policy for all CE programs. The
only exceptions will be for pre-approved programs where an
individual payment plan is appropriate. Registrations received
without accompanying payment will not be processed and
participants who have not paid the course fee will not be
admitted into the program.
