Introduction
A/D boards and accessories
Acquisition of data from CTA anemometers requires an
A/D converter board either in a PCI slot, or connected to
a USB port.
Dantec Dynamics offers complete solutions consisting of
selected A/D boards, connector box and cables. The
recommended boards cover most CTA applications with
respect to number of channels, resolution and sampling
frequency.
Dantec Dynamics offers a number of A/D converters for
use with desktop and laptop PC’s. The PCI boards have
consecutive sampling rates up to 250 kS/s or
simultaneous sampling up to 250 kS/s. This covers most
subsonic CTA applications in gases. A USB board
samples 4 to 16 channels simultaneously at 100 kS/s.
The input resolution is 12 or 16-bit, which is sufficient for
even fine scale turbulence measurements.
As the accuracy of a hotwire measurement depends on
the measured voltage, correct grounding precautions of
the AD converter must be performed, avoiding ground
loops. Dantec Dynamics ensures the accuracy and
stability of the CTA system through system tests before
delivery. This applies for AD boards supported by the
application software, and delivered by Dantec Dynamics.
The PCI boards in combination with the connector box
have inputs for external triggering and an output
handshake signal. This allows the data acquisition to be
started by an external event. The handshake signal,
which defines the acquisition status, can be used to
determine when it is safe to move a traverse system not
controlled by the CTA application software.

Trigger input and digital outputs are not available, when the Multichannel CTA is connected to the A/D board input with the
shielded cable directly. Trigger input and digital outputs are accessible if the Connector box is used.
