Renew Your Apartment Contract Online!
CONTRACT PERIOD: FOR JULY 1, 2014—JUNE 30, 2015
On March 17, emails will be sent to all residents with instructions on how to renew your apartment contract for the coming year.
PLEASE UPDATE THE CONTRACT TO INCLUDE ALL OCCUPANTS LIVING IN YOUR
APARTMENT, INCLUDING ALL CHILDREN.
Expenditures for programs and equipment at University Apartments are
planned based on who lives here. In the past year, the number of children
listed on contracts has declined significantly, which could lead to reductions
to programs and play equipment for children. We believe that there are
more children than are currently listed on contracts. If you have not added
your children to your contract, renewal time is a good time to do this.
DEADLINE TO RENEW: APRIL 30, 2014
If you have any problems renewing your contract online, please contact the
office at 232-5299 for assistance.

A Word from the Tenant Advisory Board
Page 3
The University Apartments Tenant Advisory Board (TAB) invites all residents to
attend their regular meetings to give suggestions on ways to improve student
life at University Apartments.
TAB suggests two important notices for improving the living environment of all the UT apartment residents:
Laundry Issues - In order to facilitate the maintenance of the laundry rooms, if residents find any problem, such as broken washers and/or dryers, flooding issue, and broken coin change machine, please submit an online maintenance request and place a sign on the broken appliance.
Update Your Child’s Info—If your family has children, please make sure to Update Your Children’s Info on
Your Apartment Contract. This is very important for Apartment Office to seek funds from UT for
improving the living conditions of children in UT apartment.
*If you have any questions about the responsibilities associated with being a member of TAB, please feel
free to contact Elizabeth Glowacki, at: [email protected] .

Laundry Tips
University Apartments laundry rooms use front-loading
washing machines. Front-loading machines use less water to
wash clothes; therefore, less detergent is needed. Use only
1/4 cup (2 ounces) of detergent when washing a load. Liquid detergent works better in front-loading machines than
powder detergent and so please do NOT use powdered detergent in these washing machines.
Using more than 1/4 cup of detergent causes more suds than
the front-loading machines can handle. Detergent will be
left in your clothing after it has been washed, and an additional rinse cycle will be needed. If you notice an extra-ordinary amount of bubbles inside
the machine during washing, this could mean you are using too much detergent.
Do not remove the soap drawers from the machines at any time. Without the soap drawer in
place, it is easy to pour more detergent than is needed. To report a broken washer, dryer or
coin machine, submit a maintenance request online at: “MY APTS” web page: https://
utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/dhfs/aptsapp/ and click on Maintenance Request Form in the left
column. A work order is required before a machine can be serviced. As a courtesy to others,
place a sign on the machine indicating it is out of order. If a machine is not repairable within
48 hours, the machine will be removed and another put in its place.
