purchased at the DTCC bookstore or on-line. Be sure to order the second edition.
Holidays: Monday, September 1 (Labor Day)
Parking and Transportation: Do not park in the church parking lot. There are not enough
spaces for everyone, and you may get towed. There is paid parking on the street or in the parking
garages on Rosemary Street. Also, Chapel Hill has a free bus system that you can use. For those
traveling into Chapel Hill from other locations, the TTA offers free bus passes to ESL students
with a DTCC ID.
Student IDs: Students may get a free picture ID, but they are not necessary for students in
Chapel Hill. They are available on the main campus at DTCC.
Recording attendance: I encourage you to attend all of the classes that you can, even if you are
late or have to leave early. When you sign in and out, record the exact time you enter and leave
the classroom.
Certificate of Attendance: Each student who attends at least 75% of the class hours will receive
a certificate of attendance.
Name cards: Display your name cards in every class. I will collect them at the end of each class.
Cell phones: Turn off your cell phone while in class. It is a disturbance for the instructor and the
other students to be interrupted by a call.
Inclement weather: In the event of hazardous weather, DTCC will communicate a decision to
delay opening or to close the college by an announcement on <www.durhamtech.edu> or 919536-7200.
Visitors: Visitors, including children, are not allowed to attend class with the students. Only
registered students are allowed in the classroom.
