Specifications
The Frame
At EFI, only the best materials are used to construct the building. Galvanized, steel studs, joists, and channels are used in the building framework. Optional wood framing is available.
Custom Designed, Factory-Built Modular Structures
Wall studs are 3-5/8” 20 gauge steel or 6” 20 gauge steel placed a maximum of 16” on center. Roof joists, placed 16” center, are
aluminum 8”, 16 gauge steel. All of the openings in walls or roof are fully framed.

The Walls
Enclosures For Industry
Our walls are constructed by applying 3/4” exterior grade plywood to the inside of the wall framing. The plywood is nailed and
screwed to the framing. Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) pebble grain sheeting is glued to the entire interior wall and ceiling surface. Seam and corner moldings are used to finish the joints. Two part spray polyurethane insulation is applied in the wall cavaties
forming an airtight seal. 1/2” exterior grade plywood is applied to the outside of the framing. No OSB or particle board is used in
EFI construction.
The Ceiling
The ceiling of our EFI buildings are made the same as the walls. The roofing insulation has an R-28 value, and the roof can be flat
or pitched. Ceiling joists are rated for various live and dead loads based on the site requirements and building use.
The Floor
In most applications, the floor is 1/4” steel plate on a structural steel frame. The entire floor and substructure is grit blasted and
coated with two-part epoxy to a .008’ DFT.
Exterior Finish
The standard exterior finish is 3/16” fiberglass coating over all exterior surfaces, walls and roof. The roof and sidewalls have
fiberglass applied from the outside to form a seamless exterior surface. Once the exterior surface has dried, a UV resistant gelcoat
is applied. Multiple finish styles, colors and textures are available. Many other exterior finishes are available, vinyl, masonry,
cement boards, etc.
The Roof
EFI buildings come standard with a fiberglass roof with a 1/2” :12” pitch. Optional roof structures and coverings are available
including:
- Shingled Roof, Fiberglass or Steel
- Metal Standing Seam Roof
- Roof Hatches
- Trussed Roof System - Hip or Gable
- Flat Roof for Field Installed Roof Structure
The Doors and Hardware
Single or double, aluminum or steel doors are provided flush or outset frames with lock sets, panic hardware, doors, windows and
other options. Overhead doors are also an option
