Resource of the Month:
Life Sta-on Medical Alert System
PEP for Seniors has partnered with Life Station to provide you with a great discount! If you
live alone or you are at risk for falls, you should consider a medical alert system. If you
need assistance at any time, you press the button on the waterproof necklace or bracelet.
The Life Station emergency response worker will speak to you through the system, and if
you need help an ambulance will be called along with your emergency contacts. There are
no set up or cancellation fees. You pay only $20/month. A staff member at the PEP office
will set up the system for you in your home. If you are interested in this offer, please
contact Nicole at PEP for more information.
Did you know that Parkchester is part of
Neighborhood Development Area (NDA) 10?
There are 42 NDAs designed to receive funds under NYC’s federally funded Community
Services Block Grant Program. These funds are used to provide a range of services to
low-income residents. Each NDA is represented by a Neighborhood Advisory Board (NAB).
NABs consist of up to 12 members.
The existence of the NAB is based on the recognition that community residents possess
talents and resources essential to reducing the problems of poverty. Parkchester is part of
NDA 10, and our Board is looking for more members! If you are interested, call
Anita Antonetty (NAB Liaison) at 212-676-1470
In Memoriam
Fannie Winfield
Fannie passed away at the age of 103. She was a long time Parkchester resident,
and well known to the PEP program. She was kind, and a pleasure to be around.
Fannie had many friends here, and she will be greatly missed.
